JOB TITLE
Network Support SpecialistPOSITION SUMMARY
Looking for a reliable and tech-savvy Network Support Specialist/Junior Network Administrator to join our small on-site IT team. This hands-on role focuses on day-to-day network and systems support for our K-12 school environment. Working closely with the Director of Technology, you will help maintain reliable connectivity for students and staff while assisting in the gradual transition of network services from our external managed service provider to internal control. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong technical skills who enjoys problem-solving in a school setting and wants to grow their career in educational technology.EDUCATION
Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).EXPERIENCE
1-3 years of practical experience in IT support, networking, or systems administration. Solid understanding of basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, troubleshooting connectivity). Experience with Windows environments, Active Directory, Google Workspace (or similar cloud tools).Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn new technologies quickly. Preferred experience in a school or educational setting, basic familiarity with firewalls, network monitoring, or endpoint management tools, CompTIA Network+, A+, or Security+ certification (or willingness to obtain one), understanding of K-12 technology needs, such as student device programs or content filtering.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, COMPETENCIES
Ability to operate independently and manage competing priorities. Strong project management and organizational skills. Analytical mindset with ability to use data to drive decisions. High level of integrity and dependabilityPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Free of restrictions that would limit the use of the hands as it relates to computer operation with or without reasonable accommodation. The ability to stand, walk, sit, squat, stoop, lift and carry fifty (50) pounds.OTHER:
Valid driver's license. Obtain and maintain certification in First Aid, CPR, and CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) training and techniques; Participate in required and approved voluntary professional development opportunities.ACCOUNTABILITIES
Assist with the daily maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of the school's network infrastructure, including wireless access points, switches, firewalls, and related equipment. Provide Tier 2 technical support for network-related issues, user account management, device connectivity, and basic server tasks. Help implement and support common school setting tools such as Google Workspace, content filtering, device management, and classroom technology. Work with the Director of Technology on projects to improve network performance, security, and reliability. Document network configurations, resolve tickets, and maintain asset inventory. Assist in patching systems, performing backups, and supporting disaster recovery efforts. Collaborate on the transition of services currently handled by external vendors, learning our environment and helping bring more operations in-house over time. Deliver friendly, patient support to teachers, staff, and administration while maintaining a safe and secure environment for students. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.SUPERVISOR
