To Be Determined Job Description The Miami Valley Educational Computer Association (MVECA) is seeking a skilled and service-oriented Network Engineer to join our expanding technical team. This position plays a key role in supporting the technology infrastructure of school districts and local government agencies across the region. Position Overview The Network Engineer is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining network and security technologies that support MVECA and its client organizations. This role ensures reliable uptime, strong security, and high-quality service delivery across a wide variety of networks and environments. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter with excellent communication skills, the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical users, and a dedication to outstanding customer service. Key Responsibilities Provide leadership and technical expertise in delivering network support services to client organizations Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network switching, routing, LAN/WAN systems, and firewalls Maintain datacenter equipment, virtual environments, server operating systems Implement and maintain network security measures and industry best practices Coordinate installations, upgrades, and repairs with districts, vendors, and telecommunications providers Monitor bandwidth usage and network performance to identify and resolve issues Prepare documentation, project plans, reports, and inventories Order, test, and validate equipment for deployment Maintain professional certifications (CCNA or CCNP) Support broader MVECA technology initiatives and collaborate with team members effectively Qualifications Education & Certifications Associate or Bachelor's degree in computer science, network technology, or a related field Cisco CCNA or CCNP certification (or the ability to obtain/maintain certification) Required Skills Expertise in switching, routing, and network infrastructure Experience with WAN/LAN technologies and firewall systems Ability to support PC/Mac networking across various operating systems Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize competing tasks Clear oral and written communication skills Ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical users Strong teamwork and interpersonal communication Other Requirements Valid driver's license Ability to meet health and background check requirements Physical & Work Environment Requirements Frequent travel to client sites Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. regularly and occasionally up to 100 lbs. with assistive equipment Work may include climbing ladders, crawling under desks, or working in confined spaces Occasional exposure to seasonal weather during travel Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Salary commensurate with experience. 260-day employment contract.
