SUMMARY OF POSITION
Responsible for routine maintenance of the voice switching equipment. Assist in identifying system/network problems at remote sites. Test, adjust, and troubleshoot equipment. Provide problem resolution. Assist in the review/assessment of user needs. Perform feasibility studies for small to medium-sized projects. Assist in evaluating voice technology standards and the selection of equipment and cabling solutions. Assist in developing procedures and computer systems for voice systems support. Create and maintain user documentation and technical documentation. Use diagramming tools and databases. Coordinate with vendors to identify and purchase hardware, software, and cabling.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with other operational areas to ensure the effective and integrated delivery of voice services as required for assigned projects and routine operations. Lead small to medium-sized projects (e.g., within the information technology department or for a small business unit). Serve as an information technology liaison with the client community. Assist in the resolution of voice services production problems. Maintain and configure voice systems devices and/or system profile tables (e.g., configuration of HMC-specific parameters for an off-the shelf device or system). Use vendor-supplied tools to perform ad hoc reporting. Recruit resources from other information technology teams as required to resolve problems. Perform other duties as assigned. Responsible and accountable to comply with cyber security policies, standards, and processes in accordance with the Enterprise Cyber Security Program Plan. Formally document, design, manage, and/or operate in accordance with cyber security requirements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Either:
(a) Associate's degree plus two additional years of related experience or (b) four years total of related experience. Adheres to and exhibits our organizational core values as outlined by Penn State Health. Preferred Skills Working knowledge of Avaya Unified Communications platforms, including Avaya Aura Communication Manager, Session Manager, and Avaya Messaging. Understanding of SIP, VoIP, and common enterprise telephony concepts. Experience supporting voice gateways, SIP trunking, and carrier connectivity issues. Familiarity with networking concepts such as TCP/IP, VLANs, QoS, DNS, and DHCP as they relate to voice communications. Ability to troubleshoot voice service issues using logs, diagnostic tools, and basic packet analysis. Experience supporting system upgrades, patching, backups, and routine maintenance activities. Familiarity with voice monitoring and alerting tools to identify and resolve service issues.
