What This Job Is Really About We're looking for a Junior Controls Engineer who wants to build a career in industrial automation. You don't need to walk in knowing everything. We're looking for someone with a good technical foundation, a willingness to learn, and an interest in getting hands-on with PLCs, HMIs, control panels, robotics, electrical systems, and industrial equipment. You'll work alongside experienced engineers while gradually taking on more responsibility for programming, troubleshooting, startups, and customer projects. What You'll Be Doing Assist with programming and troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, and SCADA systems Learn to develop, read, modify, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI programs Assist senior engineers with system startups and commissioning Troubleshoot automation and electrical issues in the shop and at customer facilities Assist with equipment upgrades and retrofits Verify I/O, process sequences, and equipment interlocks Learn industrial communication protocols and networking Create and modify electrical schematics, panel layouts, and one-line drawings using AutoCAD Electrical Generate BOMs and project documentation Help build and modify control panels when needed Work directly with customers as your experience grows Participate in customer/end-user training Keep drawings and documentation accurate and up to date Travel to customer facilities for installations, troubleshooting, and startups Learn from experienced engineers—and eventually become the person newer engineers come to for answers Pitch in on the random things that come up when you're part of a small engineering team What We're Looking For Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related technical field preferred 0-2 years of controls, automation, electrical, or related engineering experience Recent graduates are encouraged to apply Basic understanding of PLCs, industrial controls, or automation Familiarity with PLC/HMI programming through work experience, internships, co-ops, labs, or school projects is a plus Basic understanding of electrical schematics and industrial electrical components Familiarity with analog signals such as 4-20mA and 0-10VDC is helpful Basic computer and networking skills Mechanical aptitude and willingness to work hands-on with equipment Comfortable working both at a computer and on a plant floor Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving mindset Able to communicate professionally with coworkers and customers Self-starter who is willing to ask questions and learn Valid driver's license required Must live within approximately 60 minutes of Lebanon, PA Even Better If You've Been Exposed To Experience isn't required in all of these—we're interested in what you've had the opportunity to work with: Rockwell Automation / Allen-Bradley Siemens PLC programming HMI or SCADA development VFDs and motor controls AutoCAD Electrical Industrial robotics Servo and motion control Safety PLCs/controllers Modbus Profinet EtherNet/IP Industrial networking School projects, internships, co-ops, personal projects, and hands-on technical experience all count. Travel & Field Work This isn't a desk-only engineering position. Travel is approximately 50% and may include customer facilities, startups, commissioning, troubleshooting, and installations. Some projects will require overtime or weekend work. Industrial equipment doesn't always break between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, so flexibility is part of the job. On-Call Rotation Approximately one week per month Customer response expected within one hour Ability to reach the office within two hours if onsite support is required Flat on-call compensation plus overtime for actual call time Why CCS?
