We specialize in designing, deploying, and supporting robust industrial control systems, SCADA architectures, and custom software applications. The Role We are seeking a motivated Automation Engineer to join our team in Kansas City. In this role, you will work closely with senior engineers to design, program, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and complex SCADA environments. This is a hands-on position ideal for a recent engineering graduate who is eager to dive into modern industrial software platforms, control hardware, and scripting. You will gain exposure to full-cycle system integration, from panel design and hardware configuration to high-level application development and rigorous safety compliance. Key Responsibilities
SCADA & HMI
Development:
Assist in the design and configuration of graphical interfaces and control applications using industry-leading platforms such as Inductive Automation Ignition (Perspective/Vision) and AVEVA System Platform (OMI, InTouch, ArchestrA).
PLC Programming & Hardware:
Support the development, testing, and troubleshooting of programmable logic controllers (specifically Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and MicroLogix families) and associated terminal displays (e.g., PanelView).
Scripting & Custom Applications:
Write and debug scripts to enhance system functionality, handle data processing, or generate reports. This includes working with Python (Jython), C# (WPF/.NET), and writing SQL queries (MSSQL).
Networking & Communications:
Assist in the setup and basic troubleshooting of industrial networks and telemetry hardware, including Stratix switches and GE MDS Orbit radios.
Safety & Compliance:
Adhere to all corporate HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) policies, Stop Work Authority protocols, and assist in ensuring systems meet
DOT/PHMSA
pipeline regulations and OSHA standards.
Documentation:
Help draft and maintain technical documentation, functional specifications, and operational manuals for client deliverables.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Core Knowledge:
Foundational understanding of industrial control systems, instrumentation, and process automation concepts.
Programming Skills:
Academic or project-based experience with at least one programming language (Python, C#, C++, etc.) and basic familiarity with database structures and SQL.
Analytical Skills:
Strong mechanical aptitude, logical problem-solving abilities, and a meticulous approach to troubleshooting.
Communication:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of producing clear technical documentation and working collaboratively in a project team. Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves) Previous internship or co-op experience in the oil and gas sector or industrial manufacturing. Familiarity with SCADA software architectures, multi-galaxy communications, or tag databases. Basic understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., CIP, Modbus, DNP3). Exposure to liquids measurement applications or specific industry data formats (e.g., FlowCal CFX).
Pay:
$65,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
