Building Automation Engineer (BACnet / Modbus / PLC) Uriel Management — Dallas/Fort Worth, TX (Hybrid) Full-time | $95,000 - $135,000 per year, based on experience AI is coming to building controls, and we're the ones putting it in the building. Uriel Management is a technology company bringing AI-driven control to commercial buildings across Texas, backed by a 45-year HVAC and controls contractor. You'll work on real equipment in real buildings, not demos. We need an engineer who can walk into a site running Trane Tracer, Niagara, Metasys, Distech, or a no-name gateway, get it talking to our AI over BACnet or Modbus, write the control sequence, and commission it. Why you'll want this job You own the whole problem. From getting a device to show up on the bus, to the sequence running and proven on a trend, it's yours end to end. Nobody hands you a spec and walks away. New equipment every week, not the same building for three years. A dozen BAS brands, hundreds of sites, every gateway ever made. If you like the puzzle, you'll never run out. Small team, direct line to the CTO. Your integration goes live the week you finish it. No ticket queue, no six layers of review.
Top-of-market pay:
$95,000 - $135,000 plus performance bonus. We pay for engineers who can actually make the network talk. Code counts here. Python, protocols, and PLC logic in the same role, a combination that makes you more valuable everywhere you go next. Controls meets AI. You'll work where control sequences and machine learning overlap, a skill set almost nobody in this industry has yet. Remote most days, DFW site visits when the panel needs eyes. No forty hours a week of windshield time. 45 years of HVAC and controls behind you. Real customers, real equipment, real problems worth solving. What you'll do Integrate our systems with existing building automation platforms at customer sites over BACnet/IP, BACnet MSTP, Modbus TCP, and Modbus RTU Write, test, and commission control sequences for HVAC and building equipment; tune loops and validate points end to end Configure and program PLCs, DDC controllers, and gateways; build device drivers and point maps for equipment we haven't seen before Script integrations and tools in Python (or similar) against controller and vendor APIs Diagnose communication faults remotely and on site: device discovery, addressing, termination, register maps, trend and alarm review Build and support demand response sequences: load-shed and setpoint strategies, event execution, and verification from trend data Work directly with our CTO on integration work and with field techs on installs; produce control narratives, point lists, and as-builts You must have 3+ years programming and commissioning PLCs or DDC controllers, and you can name the platforms and tools you used Hands-on BACnet, both IP and MSTP, including troubleshooting discovery and addressing problems Hands-on Modbus, both TCP and RTU, including register mapping and byte-order problems Working code in at least one general-purpose language (Python preferred;
