Network Engineer III Position:
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, optimization, and support of Avalon's multi-region cloud network infrastructure. This position provides technical leadership for enterprise networking architecture and is accountable for ensuring the availability, security, scalability, and performance of network services across cloud environments. The Senior Network Engineer collaborates with infrastructure, security, application, and DevOps teams to develop and maintain network solutions that support business operations, regulatory requirements, and organizational growth. Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Design and implement multi-region AWS network architectures including VPCs, subnets, security groups, NACLs, and routing policies.
- Manage and optimize AWS networking services including Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, VPN, CloudFront, and Application Load Balancers.
- Architect and deploy highly available, resilient network solutions with automated failover and disaster recovery capabilities.
- Implement network security best practices including encryption, access control, network segmentation, and compliance requirements.
- Monitor network performance and implement optimization strategies to reduce latency and improve throughput across regions.
- Lead infrastructure planning and capacity forecasting for future network growth and scaling needs.
- Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to ensure network architecture supports CI/CD pipelines and containerized workloads.
- Document network architecture, configurations, and runbooks; conduct training and knowledge transfer sessions.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues and implement preventative measures to minimize downtime.
