Remote HFC Network Performance Engineer

Job Description

Job Description Insight Global is seeking a Remote HFC Network Performance Engineer for a leading telecommunications and broadband provider. This engineer will serve as a key contributor responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing the performance of a large-scale HFC network supporting broadband, video, and voice services. The ideal candidate brings a strong HFC engineering background with expertise in DOCSIS technologies, CMTS/CCAP platforms, RF performance metrics, and network analytics. On a daily basis, this individual will take a holistic view of network health, leveraging KPIs, dashboards, and performance data to identify opportunities for improvement across upstream and downstream services. They will work closely with engineering, operations, construction, and field teams to troubleshoot complex issues, support network upgrades, optimize capacity, and improve the customer broadband experience. Additionally, this engineer will provide strategic recommendations related to wireless optimization, fiber backhaul, node segmentation, DOCSIS initiatives, and overall network performance as the organization continues to evolve its HFC infrastructure. This individual must work in Alaska Hour Timezone 8:00-5:00pm. D2

  • Monitor day-to-day HFC network performance across the entire broadband network
  • Analyze network KPIs and performance dashboards to identify trends and service-impacting issues
  • Take a holistic view of network health and provide recommendations for optimization and improvement
  • Evaluate and improve upstream and downstream network performance
  • Monitor wireless network performance, settings, and feature enhancements
  • Review RF metrics including SNR, MER, CER, ingress, egress, and return path noise
  • Engineer and support
CMTS/CCAP
platforms and address critical network alarms
  • Perform capacity planning, node segmentation analysis, and performance optimization initiatives
  • Identify areas for plant optimization and network efficiency improvements
  • Support DOCSIS upgrades, network expansions, and technology migration projects
  • Partner with Network Operations, Construction, Field Engineering, and other engineering groups to drive network reliability
  • Troubleshoot complex service-affecting issues from the core network through the access network
  • Generate actionable recommendations to improve broadband customer experience and network performance

  • 5+ years of HFC (Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial) network engineering experience in a cable or broadband environment
  • Strong understanding of HFC network architecture from
CMTS/CCAP
through node level
  • Minimum 2+ years supporting or working within an HFC engineering organization
  • Experience analyzing and optimizing DOCSIS-based broadband networks
  • Knowledge of DOCSIS 3.1 and evolving DOCSIS technologies
  • Experience with
CMTS/CCAP
platforms, configuration, troubleshooting, and performance monitoring
  • Strong understanding of upstream and downstream performance metrics
  • Experience monitoring network KPIs, dashboards, and performance analytics
  • Ability to analyze RF metrics including SNR, MER, CER, ingress, egress, and return path noise
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience with CommScope NXT platforms and solutions
  • DOCSIS 3.1/4.0h node segmentation and node split initiatives
  • Background in both Network Operations and Engineering organizations
  • Industry certifications related to HFC, DOCSIS, broadband, or network engineering
  • Experience supporting high-split or mid-split architectures
