We are looking for a Network Engineer (Tier 2) to join our growing Information Technology team. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys solving technical problems, implementing network solutions, and taking ownership of assigned systems and projects. Job Summary The Network Engineer (Tier 2) is responsible for the design, implementation, configuration, troubleshooting, and ongoing support of network systems and infrastructure. This position works closely with customers, end users, internal teams, and other engineers to understand technical requirements, develop solutions, implement approved network changes, and resolve moderately complex network issues. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, has strong networking fundamentals, and knows when to escalate complex issues or design decisions to senior engineering staff. Key Responsibilities Design, configure, implement, test, and troubleshoot enterprise network infrastructure. Work with users and stakeholders to understand requirements and develop appropriate network solutions. Configure and maintain routing, switching, wireless, security, and network operating systems. Troubleshoot network connectivity, performance, configuration, and integration issues. Analyze network traffic and configurations using tools such as Wireshark and other network monitoring and diagnostic platforms. Implement approved network changes and validate system performance following deployment. Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, configurations, and as-built records. Support assigned customer environments, sites, and network platforms. Collaborate with internal technology, AV, cabling, security, and managed services teams on integrated projects. Participate in network installations, upgrades, migrations, and technology deployments. Evaluate network hardware, software, and technology solutions and make recommendations for improvements. Assist with network security initiatives, including firewalls, VPNs, access controls, and other security technologies. Participate in change management, testing, and post-implementation reviews. Assist Tier 1 technicians and engineers with advanced troubleshooting and technical guidance when needed. Escalate major incidents, complex problems, and non-standard design requirements to senior engineering staff. Maintain a high level of customer service and professionalism while working with clients and internal teams. Perform other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field or equivalent professional experience . Minimum of 3 years of experience in network engineering, network administration, systems analysis, or a related field. Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking . Working knowledge of routing and switching protocols, including BGP and OSPF . Experience with enterprise network operating systems and equipment, preferably Cisco IOS . Experience troubleshooting network connectivity, performance, and configuration issues. Working knowledge of network security concepts, including firewalls and VPNs . Experience using network analysis and troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark . Ability to work independently and exercise sound technical judgment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to clearly document technical issues, solutions, configurations, and procedures. Ability to recognize when an issue requires escalation to senior engineering staff. Preferred Qualifications CCNA certification or equivalent experience. CCNP certification preferred. CompTIA Network+ certification is a plus. Experience with cloud networking, including AWS VPC or Microsoft Azure Virtual Network . Experience with SD-WAN or software-defined networking (SDN) . Familiarity with ITIL incident and change management processes. Experience working with documented standards, runbooks, and network reference designs. Experience working in a managed services or technology services environment. Experience supporting multiple customer environments or locations.
