Job Description

Subsidiary Steel Dynamics Overview This is a technical support role for the operations and maintenance teams; the main role is to develop and execute engineering solutions for operation and enhancement of control systems. Most of this role will be performed on the Water Treat Plant, Power Distribution and Cranes systems. Responsibilities Support of multiple steel processing departments Ensure safe and proper operation of processing equipment per manufacturer operation and safety guidelines Addressing production improvement requests from the operations team Responding to out of service equipment issues Developing downtime reduction strategies Programming system visualization and controls Maintain backups of all software related to mill operation and support systems Develop technicians' troubleshooting skills and programming skills
Qualifications Required:
Strong communication skills Excellent safety and attendance record Safety oriented, understanding fundamentals of electrical safety practices. Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering required. Programming and configuration of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC): Siemens PLCs, Step 7 Simatic Manager and TIA Portal Industrial Networking and Industrial Communications Protocols (switches, TCP/IP, Profibus, Fiberoptics, network sniffers, etc)
Experience/Preferences:
Minimum 5 years experience with PLC based systems or equivalent. Experience with function block-based IDE and programming environments. Experience with HMI development and programming. Experience working with process control systems. Proven logical approach to troubleshooting. Proven ability to teach and develop electrical technicians. Ability to work in a team environment.
