The engineer will lead the system architecturedesign of Emerson DeltaV DCS platforms, including controller selection and sizing, I/O subsystem engineering, redundant network topology design, virtualization infrastructure planning(VMware-based environments), cybersecurity considerations, and high-availability system configuration. Responsibilities include development of complex control algorithms utilizing PID

control theory, cascade control strategies, feedforward/feedback loop design, interlock logic, alarm rationalization, and advanced sequencing methodologies in accordance with ISA-88batch control standards.

The position requires detailed configuration of DeltaV Continuous and Batch modules, including development of Equipment Modules, Control Modules, Phases, Operations, and Recipesusing structured design principles. The Lead Automation Engineer will design and implement batch procedural logic aligned with process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping ∈strumentation diagrams (P&IDs), ensuring deterministic execution of critical manufacturing steps in validated pharmaceutical environments.

The role involves integration of DCS systems with third-party PLCs, SCADA platforms, manufacturing execution systems (MES), and enterprise systems using industrial communicationprotocols such as Modbus TCP/IP, Ethernet/IP, OPC DA/UA, and other Ethernet-based deterministic communication frameworks. The engineer will analyze network traffic segmentation,IP schema planning, and system latency considerations to ensure real-time process control reliability and system robustness.

The Lead Automation Engineer will author and review detailed engineering documentation including User Requirement Specifications (URS), Functional Design Specifications (FDS),Hardware Design Specifications (HDS), Software Design Specifications (SDS), Configuration Design Documents, and Network Architecture Diagrams. The position requires application ofregulatory knowledge including

FDA 21 CFR

Part 11, GAMP5 risk-based validation methodology, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), data integrity principles (ALCOA+), andcomputerized system validation (CSV) lifecycle requirements.

The engineer will support and technically lead Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), Installation Qualification (IQ), and Operational Qualification (OQ)

activities, including traceability matrix development, deviation resolution, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation. The position requires independent technical judgment inresolving complex automation system failures, integration conflicts, and performance optimization challenges within mission-critical manufacturing environments.

Additionally, the Lead Automation Engineer will provide technical oversight to automation engineers and designers, perform peer review of control configurations, establish engineeringstandards, and serve as the primary technical interface with client stakeholders, quality assurance teams, and regulatory auditors.
