As a Senior Network Engineer, you will support the design, deployment, and sustainment of complex enterprise network environments supporting mission-critical defense initiatives. This role requires a strong background in network architecture, routing and switching, network security, troubleshooting, and technical leadership. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working directly with stakeholders to develop network solutions from requirements through implementation while supporting operational and project-based initiatives. Mission Supported:
- Design and implement enterprise network architectures supporting secure, highly available, and scalable environments.
- Analyze customer requirements and develop network solutions, diagrams, and technical documentation to support deployment activities.
- Conduct network assessments, site surveys, and implementation planning activities.
- Support network deployment efforts, including installation, configuration, testing, and validation of network infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot complex routing, switching, firewall, VPN, and connectivity issues across enterprise environments.
- Develop and maintain detailed network diagrams, architecture documentation, and configuration records.
- Support network modernization initiatives focused on performance optimization, resiliency, and security.
- Collaborate with engineering, security, operations, and program teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Evaluate emerging networking technologies and provide recommendations for future enhancements.
- Assist with equipment selection, procurement planning, and vendor coordination activities.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Support cloud-connected environments and integrations with enterprise infrastructure.
- Participate in planning, implementation, and sustainment activities across multiple customer sites. Qualified candidates will have the following experience and skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field is required.
- 9+ years of network engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 7+ years of experience with a Master's degree.
- Experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise network architectures.
- Strong knowledge of routing and switching technologies, including BGP, OSPF, MPLS, TCP/IP, DNS, and related networking protocols.
- Experience with Cisco networking technologies and enterprise routing/switching platforms.
- Experience with firewalls, VPN technologies, network segmentation, access control, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Experience troubleshooting complex enterprise network environments and performing root cause analysis.
- Experience creating network diagrams, architecture documentation, implementation plans, and technical reports.
- Experience supporting network deployments, installations, migrations, and modernization efforts.
- Familiarity with Software Defined Networking (SDN) technologies.
- Experience with network automation and scripting tools such as Python, Ansible, or similar technologies.
- Experience supporting cloud networking and hybrid environments, including AWS.
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills with the ability to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and support short project deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) programs and mission environments.
- Experience with VMware, KVM, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, or containerized environments.
- Experience with network architecture in cloud-based environments.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and providing technical leadership.
- Experience with Juniper, Arista, or other enterprise networking platforms.
Certifications Required:
- CompTIA Security+
Preferred:
- CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, or equivalent networking certification
- CISSP
- CEH
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
- Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)
