The Information Technology division for the Community Colleges of Spokane (CCS) is seeking a Telecommunications & Network. The Community Colleges of Spokane is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Telecommunications & Network in the District Technology Department.GENERAL DEFINITION
Under the general supervision of the Director of Technology Services, the Telecommunications & Network Technician is responsible to install, troubleshoot, and maintain CCS telecommunications systems and devices required for network connectivity. Works in collaboration with the telecommunications lead to escalate issues as necessary. As a technician within the Technology Services department this position will provide programming, installation, maintenance, and technical support for all telecommunications hardware, software and related network systems. They will write procedures for common functions and may provide training on procedures describing how to perform the work described. Services are provided to a six-county area with approximately 25 separate physical locations in addition to the two college campuses.CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the planning, installation and maintenance of all telecommunications hardware, software and voice networking equipment at all Community Colleges of Spokane (CCS) locations.- Provide end users quick response to telecom service requests to include moves, adds and changes (MAC).
- Respond to work orders and service requests from the information technology (IT) help desk, other IT staff, CCS partners, and end-users, and resolve problems that cannot be solved by Tier 1.
- Maintain replacement schedules, plan routine maintenance, configure network access, and provide documentation for IT assets such as uninterruptable power supplies (UPS).
- Perform system administration support and routine maintenance duties of all telecommunication systems as required.
- Analyze and identify network and cabling malfunctions and assist in ordering and installing telecom infrastructure equipment for existing systems including capital projects and building renovations.
- Coordinate with and monitor the work of vendor technical staff and assist in directing the work of CCS Facilities employees, contractors, and others as needed.
- Use advanced hardware and software diagnostic tools to troubleshoot system anomalies and enact quality assurance tests.
- Conduct routine audits of telephone equipment and networks to ensure quality of service and current releases of software.
- Assist in research and deployment of new voice technologies as part of the future integration of voice, video and data technologies.
- Prepare system documentation and training materials as required.
- Assist in the acquisition of CCS cell phone services and hardware. Setup up devices such as cell phones and tablets for management via the district's Mobile Device Management (MDM).
- Perform basic networking MAC activity such as patching drops, ensuring devices are connecting to the correct network, and deployment of selected networking hardware (i.e., switches, access points, etc.).
- Provide first level troubleshooting within Technology Services for networking related service issues. This includes layer 2/layer 3 (L2/L3) switching and routing.
- Perform MAC related activities on E911 location databases.
- Model professional decorum and mutual respect in all personal interactions.
- Complies with district policy, procedures and directives, state and federal regulations, orders and statute and collective bargaining agreements.
- Support and advance the CCS strategic plan, and perform other duties as assigned.

) Associate degree in Telecommunications, IT or related field from an accredited institution. Or an equivalent mix of education and experience that demonstrates the candidate meets all competency requirements for this position. One (1) year of experience in a PBX environment to include installation, maintenance and repair of phone equipment and system networks. Experience in installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of telephone equipment and networking equipment. Experience managing Microsoft Windows in support of a telecommunications environment which may include voice mail or other collaborative services. Knowledge of telephone systems and how to maintain telecommunications networks. Experience with troubleshooting anomalies, installation and maintenance of telephone and networking equipment. Working knowledge of VoIP networking protocols, SIP and MPLS. Working knowledge of QoS standards and technologies. Experience developing and maintaining systems documentation and training material A demonstrated understanding of Ethernet and TCP/IP networking fundamentals. Ability to communicate and explain processes to staff members. Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing. Proficiency with computer systems in an office environment. Excellent project management skills. Acceptance of the responsibility to promote the welfare and best interests of students at all times. A demonstrable understanding and acceptance of the mission, values, goals, objectives and strategic plan of CCS. The ability to perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and goals of the institution, and community and technical college system. TOTALCOMPENSATION WITH BENEFITS
$84,591. Total compensation is an estimate based upon adding the following amounts together: Base compensation of $65,988 , plus Current employer-paid health and related benefit contribution rates, plus Click here for a full list of benefits. Median retirement fund contributions. The actual total will vary depending upon each employee's enrollment choices. Person hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of U.S. Citizenship or lawful authorization to work in the United States. This is an absolute condition of employment. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is performed in a normal, temperature-controlled office environment. Work is active and sedentary in nature, with occasional kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. Occasional to frequent change in position from sedentary, standing, stooping, and walking. Frequent use of computer and exposure to terminal screens. Visual focus and strain. Work directly with students/clients. Work involves constant interruptions and requirement to answer on demand questions by phone, in person, or electronically. Move up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Frequent repetitive hand/wrist motions and finger manipulation. Frequent oral and auditory communication with others.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Full-time schedule (12-month, 40-hours a week). 6-month probationary period; may be extended up to 12 months. This position is overtime eligible. Proof ofCOVID-19
