ANTICIPATED SALARY

$61,176.00 to $72,256.00 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package , to include membership in the Arizona State Retirement system

NATURE OF WORK

: Under limited supervision of SEACOM Director, monitors, analyzes, defines, and configures system resources, operating systems, application administration, and communication networks; coordinates software installation/updates and customer problem resolution; performs related duties as assigned.

TYPICAL DUTIES

: (Illustrative Only) Monitors system resources and analyzes the impact of operating system changes; applies operating system changes and manages software updates; serves as the subject matter expert for assigned enterprise and public safety applications, including Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Records Management Systems (RMS), and emergency communications systems; collaborates with Information Technology team members to plan, implement, maintain, and support mission-critical systems serving the Southeastern Arizona Communications Center (SEACOM); coordinates installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrades of hardware, software, and infrastructure with IT team members, public safety personnel, vendors, and business partners; assists with the administration and support of Windows Server, Linux operating systems, virtualization platforms, Microsoft Active Directory, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Microsoft SQL Server, enterprise storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions; oversees backups and assists with disaster recovery planning, testing, and system restoration activities; monitors and analyzes system performance, availability, and errors, working closely with senior IT staff and vendors to resolve complex technical issues; develops and maintains technical documentation, system standards, and operational procedures; provides technical guidance and training to end-users and IT staff regarding enterprise and public safety applications; analyzes system faults, troubleshoots, and runs diagnostic tests on operating systems, applications, databases, virtualization platforms, and hardware to identify and resolve problems; research, evaluates, recommends, and assists in deploying IT hardware, software, and services; implements automation solutions using scripting and systems management tools to improve operational efficiency and consistency; participates in technology planning, system lifecycle management, change management, and continuous improvement initiatives; participates in an on-call rotation and assists with scheduled after-hours maintenance and emergency response activities to help ensure the continuous operation of mission-critical public safety systems.

A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Computer Information Systems from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education and two (2) years of enterprise software/hardware installation, configuration, and support experience; or six (6) years of enterprise software/hardware installation, configuration, and support experience; must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license and the ability to be covered by county insurance. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved may be considered.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

: Preference may be given to candidates with experience supporting public safety or emergency communications technology environments, including Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Records Management Systems (RMS), emergency communication systems, Motorola Spillman Flex, ProQA, NG911 or similar mission-critical public safety applications.

Considerable knowledge of:

centralized computer operating system environments and procedures; centralized computer communications and networking; enterprise virtualization platforms; Microsoft Windows Server operating systems; Linux operating systems; Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID; Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and identity management; VMware vCenter/ESXi or comparable virtualization platforms; Microsoft SQL Server, including database administration and backup strategies; Enterprise backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity concepts; cybersecurity principles, system hardening, vulnerability management, and security best practices; public safety technology environments, including Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Records Management Systems (RMS), emergency communications systems, and related technologies; record keeping, documentation, and report preparation.

Considerable skill in:

installing, configuring, documenting, and supporting Windows Server in an enterprise environment; administering and supporting Linux servers in an enterprise environment; supporting enterprise applications and mission-critical public safety systems; coordinating software installation, upgrades, maintenance, and troubleshooting with IT team members and vendors; administering application software, backups, disaster recovery, and system restoration activities; administering Microsoft Active Directory, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft SQL Server; troubleshooting server, operating system, virtualization, storage, database, and application issues; supporting customers and IT teams at Tier II and Tier III levels; user account security management and access control; identifying, analyzing, and resolving complex technical problems; implementing procedures and methods used in conducting systems analysis; project planning, organization, and technical implementation; developing and maintaining technical documentation and operational procedures; implementing automation solutions using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages; understanding complex verbal and written instructions.

Ability to:

effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment; work collaboratively with Information Technology staff, public safety personnel, vendors, and business partners; support systems operating in a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week public safety environment; participate in scheduled on-call rotations and respond to critical outages outside normal business hours; maintain composure and exercise sound judgment during emergency situations; effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences verbally and in writing; analyze complex systems, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions; manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail; work safely and promote a culture of workplace safety; plan and manage time effectively; work independently while recognizing when collaboration or escalation is appropriate; read, write, and speak English.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

: Work is primarily performed under limited supervision in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls, outdoors in a variety of climatic conditions, and may include work in confined spaces. May require travel, working early mornings, evenings, and weekends.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

: Essential functions of this position require: lifting, manual dexterity, fine motor skills, ability to communicate.

Medium Work:

Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects; involves sitting, walking and standing regularly; incumbents may be required to kneel, crouch/squat, crawl, climb, stoop, turn/twist, balance, reach, feel, or manipulate with hands.
