Job Description
$60 - $72 Florida based contract-to-hire opportunity with an enterprise-scale organization operating a large, complex hybrid infrastructure environment spanning on-prem data centers and GCP. This is a hands-on platform engineering role focused on GCP (primarily Google Compute Engine), VMware virtualization, IBM Power Systems, and Linux-based workloads across a multi-platform architecture. The contract is structured as contract-to-hire with a 6-month initial term and up to 10% travel expected. They need someone who can do more than keep the lights on. You will be translating architectural designs into production-ready infrastructure, driving automation across provisioning and configuration, and leading migrations between on-prem and cloud environments. Contract Duration:
6 months, contract-to-hire- Required Skills & Experience
- + 5-8+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, cloud engineering, or platform operations + Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), specifically Google Compute Engine (GCE) + Advanced experience with VMware technologies including vSphere, vCenter, and HCX for large-scale migrations + Hands-on experience with IBM Power Systems (Power Series) and PowerVM + Strong Linux administration skills across multiple distributions (RHEL, Ubuntu, SUSE) + Ability to implement automation across provisioning, patching, configuration management, and operational workflows •Desired Skills & Experience•+ RHEL, Unix, or cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, or GCP) + Exposure to multi-cloud strategies and cloud-to-cloud migrations + Ability to mentor junior engineers and drive engineering standards across a team •What You Will Be Doing•Tech Breakdown + 40% Google Cloud Platform (GCE, cloud-native infrastructure) + 25% VMware virtualization (vSphere, vCenter, HCX migrations) + 20% Linux OS engineering and lifecycle management + 15% IBM Power Systems and AIX workloads Daily Responsibilities + 70% Hands On + 15% Team Collaboration + 15% Documentation and Standards
