Description We are looking for a Jr. Systems Administrator to support daily IT operations for a manufacturing environment in Pompano Beach, Florida. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, user support, and infrastructure maintenance across desktop and network systems. The person in this role will help keep technology running smoothly by resolving issues, preparing equipment, and contributing to network and communication initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktop computers, laptops, and peripheral devices to maintain reliable end-user productivity.
- Set up, test, and support network hardware such as switches and routers while assisting with connectivity and communication needs.
- Provide responsive technical assistance for hardware, software, and communication issues, including escalated tickets from first-level support.
- Record, track, and update incidents and service requests in the helpdesk platform to ensure accurate documentation and timely resolution.
- Prepare and validate customer-owned equipment before shipment to confirm proper functionality and readiness for deployment.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance, repairs, and user training to reduce downtime and improve overall system performance.
- Maintain current records for hardware, software, and support activity data to support inventory control and reporting.
- Partner with the Systems and Network Manager on infrastructure-related projects and recommend practical improvements to support processes.
- Deliver scheduled after-hours or weekend emergency support when needed while maintaining a customer-focused service approach.
- Follow workplace safety, quality, and operational standards while keeping the work area organized and secure. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent technical training and certifications.
- At least 3 years of hands-on IT experience supporting computer systems, peripheral devices, and network equipment.
- Working knowledge of system administration and support tools, including Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Windows Server, Windows 10, and ticketing systems.
- Experience troubleshooting and configuring switches, routers, virtual servers, and platforms such as Hyper-V, Citrix technologies, and Dell technologies.
- Understanding of network infrastructure fundamentals, cybersecurity concepts, account provisioning, and remote support practices.
- Strong background in end-user support, including training, preventative maintenance, and clear communication in customer-facing situations.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with strong problem-solving skills.
- Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, MCSE, or Cisco CCNA are preferred; exposure to controlled information handling requirements is a plus.
