  • FAA wide Duties Help In the absence of the Executive Director, the incumbent assumes full responsibility and authority in the operion of the Airports Division's aviion programs.

Serves as the first level supervisor for several Branch and Airport District Office (ADO) Managers. Most ADOs are loced remotely and oversee multiple large hub airports with complex aviion issues. Integres work of multiple organizions to meet stregic goals of the organizion and the FAA. Participes in stregic planning for the FAA, and makes commitments (program, budget, etc.) for a major organizion. Provides oversight and ensures successful completion of complex and politically sensitive airport projects th involves extensive coordinion with various internal and external stakeholders. Exercises the full range of supervisory responsibilities to include stregic planning, communicing the organizion's vision and objectives; setting priorities; assigning tasks and responsibilities; monitoring and evaluing performance of organizional units, managers and employees; coaching and developing staff; approving leave; and taking corrective/disciplinary actions as approprie. Communices and reinforces diversity and EEO policies and programs in all areas of responsibility. Participes in the labor-management partnership process. Promotes a fair and equitable work environment. Applies a detailed knowledge of the technical aspects of the work th is directed; a detailed knowledge of budget, human resource management, and other administrive policies and procedures; and a comprehensive understanding of the objectives of the major subdivision, the LOB/SO, and the FAA. Defines and assigns tasks to accomplish objectives and assists the Executive Director with providing oversight and management to ensure th region-wide programs opere effectively and efficiently, comply with regulory requirements, and promote the accomplishment of the FAA's goals and objectives. Utilizes technical knowledge of FAA Airports' policies, programs, Federal laws and regulions, to provide oversight, develop schedules, and make decisions on program and project implemention. Serves as the technical advisor to the Executive Director and in his/her absence serves as the technical advisor to the Associe Administror for Airports. Possesses the ability to cree positive working relionships to ensure coordined responses with counterparts the approprie levels of the Airports organizion, along with other organizions to enable problem solving the lowest level. Uses his/her knowledge of personnel and other administrive policies and procedures to monitor, direct, and provide oversight of administrive staff and programs such as budget, hiring and other administrive programs. In coordinion with the Executive Director, the incumbent ensures training requirements are current and th the diverse technical staff has the necessary guidance to carry out airport programs and safety oversight functions. Work is typically governed by established policies, procedures and mission objectives which leave considerable room for discretion. Provides guidance to subordine managers and employees for preventing and resolving problems without the intervention of higher-level management except where LOB/SO or FAA-wide interests are stake. Develops and approves solutions to current and anticiped problems which cross organizional lines and disciplines. In doing so, considers technical, budgetary, regulory, and political issues th involve other organizions inside and outside the FAA. Individual and organizional performance is typically reviewed periodically through organizional performance measures to determine success in achieving planned results.
