The Family Services Specialist provides case management, parenting education, referrals, and support to families involved with the child welfare system. The role works closely with families, DCFS, community partners, and other professionals to strengthen family functioning, promote positive parenting and relationships, and connect families with needed resources. Within Healthy Families America (HFA) , this position also supports program quality, data management, referrals, enrollment, and community outreach.

Key Responsibilities:
Provide family-centered, strengths-based case management to families referred by DCFS, community partners, or through self-referral. Conduct assessments, develop individualized service plans, and monitor progress toward family goals. Provide parenting education and support using approved curricula and evidence-based approaches. Build trusting relationships with families while maintaining professional boundaries, confidentiality, and respect. Advocate for families and connect them with community resources and appropriate support services. Coordinate with DCFS caseworkers and other professionals involved with families. Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential case documentation and required reports. Process referrals, coordinate intake and enrollment, and provide timely follow-up. Enter and maintain accurate participant and referral information in databases and tracking systems. Support HFA quality assurance, data collection, outcome tracking, reporting, and continuous quality improvement. Participate in community outreach, resource fairs, presentations, networking, and other activities that increase awareness of services. Develop and maintain positive relationships with community organizations, healthcare providers, social service agencies, and referral partners. Participate in staff meetings, supervision, case consultation, training, and other program activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Services or a related field. Relevant experience working with children and families, including case management, family support, parenting education, or other human services experience. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to build effective, respectful, and confidential relationships with families and professionals. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate documentation. Basic to intermediate computer skills, including databases, electronic records, Microsoft Office, or similar programs. Bilingual skills preferred. Valid Illinois driver's license and vehicle insurance, with the ability to travel throughout the service area for home visits and community activities.
