Jobs › Somerville, MA › Network Administrator Robert Half Network Administrator Somerville, MA Apply Description We are looking for a Network Administrator to join a collaborative IT team in Somerville, Massachusetts and help maintain a stable, secure, and scalable technology environment. This Long-term Contract position focuses on supporting enterprise networking across multiple locations while contributing to infrastructure modernization, office expansions, and integration efforts tied to business growth. The role is well suited for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement across network and cloud-connected systems.
Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day operations of enterprise networking systems, including firewalls, VPN connections, switching, routing, and wireless environments.
- Diagnose and resolve issues affecting network availability, remote access, connectivity, and overall security posture.
- Contribute to the integration of newly added sites by deploying standardized infrastructure and aligning equipment with company technology standards.
- Coordinate and execute infrastructure enhancement initiatives such as network refreshes, office technology setups, and site buildout activities.
- Provide technical support for related platforms, including VMware, Microsoft 365, and other cloud-based services connected to the network environment.
- Act as a higher-level resource for service desk staff by handling escalated technical concerns and offering guidance to less experienced team members.
- Keep technical documentation current, track network health, and recommend changes that strengthen performance, resilience, and protection.
- Partner with IT leadership and internal stakeholders to advance operational improvements and support longer-term technology planning. Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in network administration, infrastructure support, or a closely related technical role.
- Demonstrated knowledge of firewall management, VPN technologies, routing, switching, wireless networking, and LAN environments.
- Hands-on experience working with enterprise network hardware such as Cisco routers and broader Cisco networking technologies.
- Familiarity with VMware and Microsoft-based environments, including Active Directory and cloud-connected business systems.
- Experience supporting multi-location infrastructure, network implementation projects, or organizational expansion efforts is preferred.
- Exposure to platforms such as Fortinet, Aruba, or Ubiquiti would be advantageous.
- Strong communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to work effectively in a fully onsite setting in Somerville, Massachusetts.
