Job Description

SMX is seeking a System Administrator to support a dynamic DoD environment. This position is 100% on-site and requires an active Top Secret clearance. The System Administrator will install, configure, and maintain local area network (LAN) infrastructure, operating systems, and physical and virtual server environments. This role is responsible for monitoring system health and availability, maintaining Windows and VMware infrastructure, supporting cybersecurity compliance activities, and ensuring the reliable day-to-day operation of assigned systems. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows operating systems, physical servers, and virtual server environments. Monitor system performance, availability, and resource utilization across hardware, network, and server infrastructure. Review system and application logs and verify successful completion of scheduled tasks, including system backups. Manage user accounts, permissions, and access to system resources. Install, configure, and upgrade application and system software while maintaining applicable software licensing. Support Windows Server, Windows Domain Controller, hardware, and application software environments. Assist with vulnerability management and cybersecurity compliance activities, including ACAS scanning and STIG implementation/remediation. Analyze system and server resource consumption and identify potential performance or availability issues. Assist with planning and coordination between network, server, virtualization, and application environments. Develop or utilize scripts and automation to improve system administration and operational efficiency.
Required Skills & Experience Clearance Required:
Top Secret US Citizenship is required for work on DoW contract 3+ years of relevant system administration or infrastructure experience. Security+ CE certification and applicable operating system certification. Hands-on experience supporting Windows Server environments. Experience administering VMware virtual infrastructure. Experience supporting hardware, Windows Domain Controllers, and application software. Strong attention to detail and troubleshooting skills. Desired Skills & Experience Experience with ACAS (Automated Cybersecurity Assessment System). Familiarity with DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), including implementation and remediation. Scripting and automation experience. Experience with tools and technologies such as Ansible, GitLab, Bash, PowerShell, or similar automation/scripting solutions. #cjpost The SMX salary determination process takes into account a number of factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories, relevant prior work experience, specific skills, education and certifications.
