Job Description
We are looking for a Systems Administrator to support a mission-driven organization in Asheville, North Carolina. This position combines systems administration, network support, and hands-on desktop assistance for a multi-building campus serving approximately 300 onsite staff. The role is ideal for someone who can balance infrastructure reliability with responsive end-user support, especially in an environment where users may need extra guidance with technology.
Responsibilities:
Provide day-to-day technical support for staff across a large onsite campus, resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues with a service-oriented approach. Manage the operation, maintenance, and lifecycle planning of servers and core systems to ensure stable performance and timely upgrades. Administer user accounts, access controls, and security settings across enterprise platforms, including Active Directory and related tools. Assist with the support and troubleshooting of network equipment, segmentation, firewall-related issues, and fiber-connected infrastructure. Maintain Windows and Linux environments, including virtualized systems running on Hyper-V and VMware. Support endpoint management for desktop systems and user devices, including Windows 10 environments and related peripherals. Apply corporate and local IT standards to system configuration, security practices, and daily support activities. Respond to urgent technology issues outside normal business hours when incident-driven or emergency situations arise. Provide technical readiness and onsite support for events and conferences that require dependable IT coordination across campus facilities. Experience supporting Microsoft Windows Server environments and Windows 10 end users in an onsite setting. Working knowledge of Linux system administration and routine troubleshooting practices. Familiarity with virtualization platforms such as Hyper-V and VMware. Understanding of core networking concepts, including segmentation, switching, and basic firewall troubleshooting. Exposure to account security, permissions management, and administration within Active Directory. Ability to support users with varying levels of technical confidence through clear, patient communication. Experience working with enterprise hardware and infrastructure technologies, including Dell systems and fiber-connected environments. Familiarity with tools or platforms such as Citrix is beneficial.
