Job Description
Description AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. The Generation Service Technician has safety, customer satisfaction, and business responsibilities within data center operations. The person in this role is responsible for identifying, troubleshooting, diagnosing and providing quality repairs of electrical generator systems and related engine mechanical failures. As both a technical expert and primary customer support liaison, the Generator Service Technician is responsible for maintaining consistent communication with clients to ensure an exceptional customer experience while maximizing data center availability. Lump sum stipend will be provided to eligible candidates who relocate for this position. Key job responsibilities- Adhere to and promote all company safety protocols, maintaining a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
- Actively engage in accident prevention initiatives and contribute to ongoing safety improvement efforts to foster a culture of workplace safety
- Travel within an assigned region to designated sites and perform professional quality field service repairs consistent with company standards
- Keep Generator Service Manager continually apprised of current priorities to assist in answering customer questions and problems when necessary
- Action requests for procurement of needed materials to perform assigned duties
- Document detailed, complete and correct descriptions of all repair operations performed
- Accurately record time, expenses, and mileage
- Lift up to 40 lbs; pushing and pulling a maximum force of 40 lbs
- Wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required and provided by AWS A day in the life The Generator Service Technician has safety, customer satisfaction, and business responsibilities within data center operations.
- 2+ years of relevant work experience
- Experience in relevant work
- Can bend or twist the body into unusual positions while working
- Can use hands to manipulate small wires and objects
- Can walk on job sites in uneven terrain
- Can work at heights and from ladders Preferred Qualifications
- 4+ years of data center engineering experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Knowledge of network design and layout as well as low voltage (copper/ fiber) cabling
- Experience in data center engineering
