About the Role Gig Systems is a Microsoft-focused Managed Service Provider (MSP) supporting IT environments for multiple small and mid-sized business clients. We're looking for an experienced, hands-on Senior IT Administrator to support our client base on a part-time, as-needed basis. This is a great fit for a seasoned MSP or systems administrator — such as someone semi-retired, running their own consultancy, or looking for flexible supplemental work — who wants steady but limited hours (10-20/week) without a full-time commitment. Must be local to the Buffalo, NY area and available to go on-site to client locations when needed. Responsibilities Administer Microsoft 365 and Azure/Entra ID tenants across multiple client environments, including user provisioning, licensing, and security configuration Manage Windows Server, Active Directory, and networking (switches, firewalls, VPN) for client infrastructure Administer Intune/endpoint management, conditional access, and MDM policies across client tenants Monitor and respond to alerts from RMM tooling, EDR/endpoint security, and backup platforms; resolve incidents and escalate as needed Work tickets through our PSA/ticketing system, meeting client SLAs and documenting resolutions Perform on-site troubleshooting, hardware support, and network work at client locations as needed Support client onboarding, offboarding, and new-employee IT setup Contribute to client documentation (network diagrams, credentials, configurations) in our documentation platform Recommend and help implement security and infrastructure improvements across the client base Be available on an as-needed basis for urgent client issues outside standard hours Qualifications 5+ years of experience in IT administration or systems administration; prior MSP experience strongly preferred Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure/Entra ID, Windows Server, and Active Directory Experience with Intune or similar endpoint/MDM management Comfortable managing multiple client environments/tenants simultaneously and switching context between them Familiarity with common MSP tooling: RMM platforms (e.g., NinjaOne, Datto RMM, ConnectWise Automate), PSA/ticketing systems (e.g., ConnectWise, Autotask, HaloPSA), and documentation tools (e.g., IT Glue) Solid understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals: firewalls, endpoint protection/EDR, backup and disaster recovery Networking fundamentals (switches, routers, firewalls, VPN, Wi-Fi) Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision and communicating directly with client contacts Must live at or near Buffalo, NY and be available for on-site client visits as needed Strong client-facing communication skills; ability to explain technical issues to non-technical end users Relevant certifications a plus: Microsoft Certified (MS-102 Endpoint Administrator, AZ-104 Azure Administrator, MS-900/AZ-900), CompTIA Security+, or similar Schedule & Location This is a flexible, as-needed role — expect roughly 10 to 20 hours per week, with hours that may fluctuate based on client demand. Most work can be scheduled in advance, with occasional on-call availability for urgent client issues. Must be based in or near Buffalo, NY and willing to travel to client sites in the area. Compensation $50
