Job Description
Position Summary The Kids Place Gym Teacher is responsible for planning and leading fun, engaging, and age-appropriate physical fitness activities and gym games for children in grades K-6 participating in the Kids Place After School Program. The Gym Teacher will create a positive, safe, and inclusive environment that encourages children to be active, develop physical skills, and enjoy being part of a team. Essential Responsibilities Plan and lead a variety of age-appropriate and developmentally appropriate gym games, sports, and physical fitness activities for children in grades K-6. Create engaging activities that encourage participation, teamwork, cooperation, and physical activity. Supervise children at all times and maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment. Effectively manage a group of children in an active gym or recreational setting. Adapt games and activities to accommodate different ages, skill levels, interests, and abilities. Provide clear instructions and demonstrate activities and proper use of equipment. Follow all JCC policies and procedures, including safety, supervision, child protection, and emergency procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age. High school diploma or equivalent required. Experience working with school-aged children in an active, recreational, educational, or sports setting preferred. Ability to effectively supervise and engage groups of children. Monday through Friday 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. Some weekend, holiday and evening hours required.
