This role serves as the technical lead for a small team, coordinating closely with the Managed Services Provider (MSP) to ensure reliable, secure, and compliant IT operations. This role balances hands-on technical work with team coordination, vendor management, and strategic planning to support business continuity and growth. This is an in-office position located in Rochester, NY. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Network & Systems Administration Manage and maintain multi-site network infrastructure including LAN/WAN, VPN, wireless, and firewall configurations Administer Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP Oversee cloud-hosted resources (AWS) Monitor system performance, capacity, and uptime; proactively address issues before they impact operations Coordinate with the MSP on escalated issues, change requests, and service delivery Security & Compliance Implement and maintain technical and administrative safeguards in compliance with the FTC Safeguards Rule (16 CFR Part 314), ensuring the organization's information security program meets all applicable requirements Support the organization in conducting risk assessments, maintaining the written information security program, and implementing safeguards across all systems that store, process, or transmit customer data Maintain activity logs and monitoring procedures to detect unauthorized access to customer information. Coordinate with the MSP to ensure service provider contracts include appropriate security expectations and monitoring mechanisms. Assist in maintaining the organization's written incident response plan and support breach notification procedures. Participate in periodic risk reassessments and program evaluations to keep the information security program current with operational changes and emerging threats Team Leadership & Coordination Lead, mentor, and assign work to a small team of network/system administrators Serve as the primary technical liaison between internal IT staff and the MSP Coordinate patch management, change management, and maintenance windows across sites Documentation Maintain comprehensive documentation for systems, configurations, and procedures Document network topology, firewall rules, and change records to ensure continuity and audit readiness Create and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) for routine tasks, incident response, and onboarding Maintain asset inventories, license tracking, and vendor contact records Project & Vendor Management Plan and execute IT projects including hardware refreshes, site builds, and infrastructure upgrades Manage vendor relationships for hardware, software, and telecom services Evaluate new technologies and make recommendations aligned with business needs and budget Working Conditions Full-time, on-site presence required with travel between company locations as needed Occasional after-hours work for maintenance windows, upgrades, and incident response This job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities, or qualifications associated with the role. Required 5+ years of experience in network and systems administration Strong working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP Experience managing firewall, VPN, and wireless infrastructure across multiple locations Demonstrated understanding of information security principles and regulatory compliance frameworks Experience coordinating with external IT service providers or MSPs Valid NYS Drivers License Preferred Certifications CompTIA Network+ or CompTIA Security+ Vendor-specific certifications or demonstrated proficiency with SonicWall, Cisco, Meraki, or FortiGate equipment Preferred Skills & Experience Experience with FTC Safeguards Rule compliance or similar financial services regulatory frameworks Experience with automotive dealer management systems Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, and Microsoft 365) Strong written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional and vendor coordination Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple sites with minimal supervision Team leadership experience
