Your primary focus involves providing on-site expertise for machine installations, commissioning, and ongoing maintenance, while also driving continuous improvement and troubleshooting efforts. By delivering high-level support for sophisticated CNC systems, you will play a critical role in optimizing machine uptime and ensuring total customer satisfaction. We are seeking a candidate who possesses deep technical proficiency in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and CNC systems. You will be expected to diagnose and resolve equipment challenges independently while collaborating effectively with customers, contractors, and internal engineering teams. This position demands a blend of project management expertise, clear communication, and a steadfast dedication to safety and quality standards. In this capacity, you will serve as a trusted advisor on-site, representing our brand with professionalism. You will also mentor junior staff, assist with customer training, and contribute to initiatives that boost machine reliability and operational output. This role reports directly to the Operations Support Manager within the Operations department.
Employment Status:
Full-time - Hourly Core Responsibilities Technical Support & Troubleshooting Execute complex repairs and maintenance routines on CNC machinery and related hardware. Identify and fix issues across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and servo control systems. Repair critical machine components such as spindle assemblies, gearboxes, ball screws, and drive systems to ensure peak performance. Analyze and rectify faults within open-loop and closed-loop axis control architectures. Perform essential CNC geometry verification, positioning compensation, and calibration tasks to maintain precision. Help maintain a reliable production environment by conducting preventative maintenance and suggesting necessary corrective measures. Facilitate machine startups, commissioning, and readiness assessments to ensure smooth operations. Machine Installation & Alignment Oversee the installation, relocation, and retrofitting of machinery to ensure successful project deployment. Coordinate installation timelines and manage communication between internal teams, clients, and external contractors. Carry out precise machine leveling and geometric alignment procedures. Use laser measurement tools to verify positioning, straightness, and squareness for maximum accuracy. Validate machine performance against specifications to ensure customer satisfaction upon project completion. Assist with modernization and upgrade projects as required by operational needs. CNC Systems & Manufacturing Support Configure and optimize 5-axis machining systems, including TRAORI setups. Resolve issues with automatic tool changers and associated tool management systems. Provide guidance to customers on process improvements and operational best practices to enhance efficiency. Manage machine parameters and compensation routines to tune performance. Work alongside engineering teams to pinpoint root causes and establish permanent solutions. Customer Support & Training Act as the primary on-site technical point of contact for the client. Foster productive, long-term relationships with customer staff at all levels. Deliver comprehensive training to customer teams regarding machine operation and maintenance. Keep internal and customer leadership updated on machine status, service progress, and potential risks. Collect client feedback to help improve future service delivery and product enhancements. Ensure all tasks are executed safely and professionally to uphold company and client standards. Leadership & Continuous Improvement Provide hands-on mentorship and training to junior field service personnel. Drive knowledge sharing and the development of standardized technical procedures. Assist management in identifying ways to improve service delivery and overall machine reliability. Help maintain a safe working environment for the entire team by promoting a culture of accountability and teamwork. Required Qualifications At least 4 years of professional experience in CNC manufacturing or industrial equipment maintenance. Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Proven ability to troubleshoot servo-controlled machinery. Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and engineering blueprints. Experience conducting precision measurements, machine geometry, and alignment. Familiarity with CNC controls, compensation methods, and performance verification. Experience leading field service projects or commissioning activities is preferred. Strong organizational and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to manage customer expectations effectively in high-pressure production settings. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant service software. High school diploma or GED; technical degree or military training is preferred. Flexibility to work varied hours to meet project and customer needs. Must possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. Ability to work independently with high levels of accountability. Must adhere to all site-specific and company safety protocols. Physical ability to stand, walk, climb, and work in industrial settings for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed. Competency in using power tools, hand tools, and precision diagnostic equipment. Ability to safely navigate manufacturing facilities and confined workspaces. Preferred Qualifications Technical or Associate degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field. Experience with large-scale CNC gantry mills or aerospace manufacturing equipment. Experience working with Fanuc and Siemens CNC control systems. Certification or equivalent experience in laser alignment and machine geometry. Location Portland, OR Compensation & Benefits Hourly pay ranging from $30 to $43 ($62,000 - $89,000 annually). Full benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and a 401(k) plan with company matching. Travel requirements include 10-20% domestic and international travel.
