Position Summary We are seeking a hands-on IT professional to lead the evaluation, organization, and modernization of our engineering software environment. This role will be responsible for learning our existing software stack, documenting and untangling current workflows, recommending improvements, and helping transition the company to new engineering design tools and processes where appropriate. The ideal candidate combines strong technical troubleshooting skills with project management abilities and can work closely with engineering, operations, and leadership teams to ensure our technology infrastructure supports business growth. Key Responsibilities Engineering Software Management Learn and document the company's current engineering and design software ecosystem. Analyze existing workflows and identify inefficiencies, redundancies, and opportunities for improvement. Develop recommendations for software consolidation, modernization, and process improvements. Plan and execute migrations to new engineering and design platforms. Manage software licensing, updates, integrations, and vendor relationships. Create documentation, standards, and training materials for users. Maintain and update existing software applications (4D, C# programs, Airtable, Sharepoint). Effectively leverage AI tools to connect disparate systems. IT Systems Administration Support and maintain business applications, servers, workstations, and user accounts. Troubleshoot software, network, and systems-related issues. Assist with cybersecurity initiatives and technology best practices. Hardware Support Troubleshoot desktop, laptop, printer, scanner, and network equipment issues. Evaluate hardware requirements for engineering applications and recommend upgrades. Coordinate hardware purchases and technology lifecycle planning. Strategic Technology Leadership Serve as the primary point of contact for engineering technology initiatives. Collaborate with leadership to develop technology roadmaps. Manage implementation projects from planning through deployment and user adoption. Balance immediate support needs with long-term modernization goals. Qualifications Required 3+ years of experience in IT systems administration, engineering software support, or a related technical role. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Experience learning and supporting complex software environments. Understanding of computer hardware, networking, and operating systems. Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical users. Experience documenting systems, processes, and technical procedures. Self-starter capable of working independently and managing multiple priorities. Limited travel to other sites, estimated at 5% of the time. Preferred Experience supporting CAD, engineering design, manufacturing, or product development software. Experience with software migrations and system implementations. Knowledge of Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory, AI tools, or cloud platforms. Familiarity with SQL databases, software integrations, or scripting/automation. Project management experience. Manufacturing or engineering industry experience. What Success Looks Like Within the first year, this person will: Fully document the current engineering software environment. Identify and prioritize improvement opportunities. Lead key software transition initiatives. Establish sustainable support and maintenance processes. Improve system reliability, usability, and efficiency for engineering teams.
