The Installation and Service Technician 1 is responsible for installing and servicing IWT's
SENTINEL
™ communications system with new and existing customers. IWT's primary customers operate coalmines, and we service other mines types as well, such as Salt and Hard Rock. Initially, the Technician 1 will train alongside experienced Technicians for 1-2 years to gain knowledge of IWT's system and standard operating procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain a safe, neat and clean work arear adhering to IWT's and Customer's safety regulations. Properly install IWT's
SENTINEL
™ Communications and Tracking (C&T) system at the Customer's location. Establish proper network connectivity by running, pulling and properly terminating RF cables. Ensure quality of installations by testing the C&T network performance. Troubleshoot and resolve network issues with the C&T system. Engage field support technicians and engineering as needed. Train customer's end users on the proper use and maintenance of personal equipment, e.g. IWT's handset or tracking tag. Installation services include, but are not limited to, securely hanging equipment in appropriate locations, making RF cables with appropriate tools, testing voice and data coverage in designated areas, training Customer employees. Support existing customers remotely as needed. Provide reports on installation parameters, such as updated IP schema, node locations, etc. Generate and maintain other documentation as needed. Other Operational tasks as directed.
Travel Requirements:
This job position requires can require up to 75-80% travel. Installations could be multiple consecutive weeks, but are typically a week or less.
Experience:
Persons with previous underground coal mining experience preferred, but not required. Persons with industrial electrician knowledge preferred, but not required. Meticulous clerical and organizational skills a must. Previous experience in IT or wireless communications a plus.
Qualifications:
No degree required, but an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily after training and have a willingness to work and learn. Must have a valid driver's licenses, with a clean driving record to operate company provided vehicle. Must have the ability to respond and adjust to changing or new situations. Work well in high-stress environments and maintain professionalism in dealing with customers and co-workers. Must be able to troubleshoot fundamental mechanical, electrical and operational aspects of the various equipment installed. Must be able to read and understanding documents associated with IWT's equipment, such as safety rules, layout drawings, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. A willingness to learn IWT's system and implementation. Must be a US citizen
Physical Requirements:
Ability to drive safely for long periods. Climb up to 60 feet above ground on ladders and catwalks Stooping, bending, kneeling a minimum of 25 times per day Lift 75 lbs. three times per day, floor to waist level Walk/stand on uneven ground, walkways and catwalks throughout the work day Climb ladders, steps and inclined walks minimum of 2 hours per day Carry 50 lbs. minimum of 50 feet, 5 times per day Ability to lift and push 100 lbs. Communicate in person or by radio minimum of 2 hours per day Able to reason through difficult operations problems, resolve said problems and/or relate same to others Capability of working for long periods in extreme heat and in dusty areas, confined spaces and heights, in coalmines or other mining areas.
