Information Technology Position Summary We are seeking an experienced and proactive Systems Administrator / IT Operations Specialist to take ownership of our day-to-day internal IT environment.

This position will serve as the primary IT resource for our organization and will be responsible for supporting employees, maintaining company technology, administering systems and user access, monitoring infrastructure, troubleshooting technical issues, and proactively identifying potential problems before they result in downtime or service disruptions.

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys being hands-on and can comfortably move between employee support, computer and software administration, networking, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and IT projects.

This individual will also work directly with a co-managed Managed Service Provider (MSP), which will provide additional monitoring, cybersecurity, after-hours coverage, and specialized technical support. The Systems Administrator will serve as our primary internal IT owner and coordinate with the MSP when escalation or additional expertise is required. Key ResponsibilitiesSystems & Infrastructure Monitor company systems, networks, computers, and infrastructure to maximize uptime and performance. Identify and address warning signs that may indicate impending equipment, network, or service failures. Respond to network, service, software, hardware, and infrastructure disruptions. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues affecting employees and company operations. Administer and maintain network equipment, Wi-Fi, firewalls, switches, VPNs, and related infrastructure. Coordinate maintenance, upgrades, replacements, and improvements to company technology. Monitor the health and performance of company computers, laptops, servers, cloud services, and other technology. Maintain appropriate patching and update schedules for company devices and systems. Employee IT Support Serve as the primary point of contact for employee technology issues. Provide both in-person and remote technical support. Securely access company computers remotely when troubleshooting is required. Troubleshoot hardware, software, connectivity, printing, email, account, and application issues. Install, configure, maintain, and replace employee computers, laptops, peripherals, and other technology. Employee Onboarding & Offboarding Prepare computers and technology for new employees. Create and configure user accounts, email, software, applications, permissions, and system access. Ensure employees have the programs and technology necessary to perform their jobs. Manage changes in employee permissions and access. Coordinate IT offboarding when employees leave the company, including disabling access, securing company information, and recovering company equipment. Security & Access Management Administer user accounts, permissions, passwords, multi-factor authentication, and system access. Help maintain endpoint protection and other cybersecurity tools. Work with our external cybersecurity/MSP partner to investigate alerts and potential security incidents. Follow and help improve company cybersecurity and access-control procedures. Assist with backup, recovery, and business-continuity procedures. IT Asset & Vendor Management Maintain an accurate inventory of company computers, laptops, network equipment, software, licenses, and other IT assets. Track equipment assignments, warranties, replacement schedules, and software licensing. Coordinate with internet, software, telecommunications, hardware, and technology vendors. Help evaluate new hardware, software, and technology solutions. Assist management with technology purchasing and budgeting decisions. Documentation Maintain clear documentation of the company's IT environment. Document systems, network configurations, equipment, software, vendors, procedures, and recovery processes. Maintain onboarding/offboarding and troubleshooting procedures. Ensure critical IT knowledge is documented and remains accessible to the company. MSP & Technology Partner Coordination Serve as the primary internal contact for our co-managed IT/MSP partner. Coordinate escalation of complex network, infrastructure, security, and system issues when necessary. Review monitoring alerts and recommendations from the MSP. Coordinate major technology projects with outside specialists when appropriate. Work with the MSP on backup, disaster recovery, cybersecurity, and business-continuity planning. Qualifications Professional experience in systems administration, IT support, network administration, or a related IT role. Strong knowledge of Windows computers and business IT environments. Experience administering Microsoft 365 and/or similar cloud productivity platforms. Experience with user and identity management, including permissions and multi-factor authentication. Working knowledge of networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi, VPNs, switches, routers, and firewalls. Experience troubleshooting computers, laptops, printers, software, networks, and other business technology. Experience with remote monitoring and remote-support tools. Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, endpoint protection, patch management, backups, and disaster recovery. Ability to troubleshoot problems independently and determine when escalation is appropriate. Strong documentation and organizational skills. Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical employees. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting a small or mid-sized business environment. Experience working alongside or managing an MSP. Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco, or other relevant IT certifications. Experience with Microsoft Entra ID/Azure, Active Directory, Intune, or similar identity and device-management platforms. Experience with endpoint detection and response (EDR), firewalls, backup platforms, and remote monitoring and management (RMM) tools. Experience developing or improving IT documentation, policies, and procedures. What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who takes ownership of problems, is able to prioritize based on urgency, and can communicate their strengths as well as their weaknesses..The right person for this position will be proactive, dependable, organized, security-conscious, and comfortable working independently. They should be equally comfortable helping an employee troubleshoot a laptop and investigating a larger network or infrastructure issue.

From $50,600.00 per year
