Job Description

Job#: 3049308 Position SummaryBrown University Health is seeking an experienced Linux Vulnerability Remediation Engineer to support enterprise security and infrastructure initiatives across a complex Linux server environment. This individual will focus on identifying, analyzing, and remediating security vulnerabilities while partnering closely with Linux administrators, application owners, and security teams.



The ideal candidate will bring strong Linux engineering expertise, experience working in regulated enterprise environments, and the ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve security findings while balancing operational risk and application dependencies. Key ResponsibilitiesReview and remediate vulnerabilities identified through Qualys and enterprise security scanning tools.



Perform root cause analysis of recurring Linux security findings.



Develop and implement remediation plans for operating system, kernel, and infrastructure vulnerabilities.



Evaluate older Linux systems and recommend remediation, upgrades, or alternative solutions.



Coordinate server patching, maintenance windows, and required reboot activities with infrastructure and application teams.



Analyze Linux system configurations to identify security risks and compliance gaps.



Partner with security teams to reduce overall enterprise risk exposure.



Document remediation efforts, recommendations, and implementation plans.



Work independently to execute remediation activities while minimizing business disruption.



Required Qualifications5+ years of Linux Systems Engineering experience.



Strong administration experience supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments.



Experience with enterprise vulnerability remediation and security compliance initiatives.



Knowledge of Linux patch management and system lifecycle processes.



Experience troubleshooting OS-level and kernel-related issues.



Experience supporting large-scale server environments.



Ability to work independently and drive remediation activities to completion.



Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.



Preferred QualificationsExperience with Linux Satellite Server.



Experience supporting healthcare, financial services, or other regulated environments.



Familiarity with vulnerability management platforms such as Qualys.



Experience supporting security audits and compliance initiatives.



Knowledge of infrastructure automation and Linux scripting.
