Job Description
Role Summary
- The Process Control System Administrator will work as part of our Process Control team.
- Role models safe behavior and practices, participates in safety activities.
- Performs preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of network infrastructure that supports the mills DCS hardware and software applications to insure a high level of performance, security, and reliability.
- Assesses overall system health continually through diagnostics and other system tools.
- Resolve control system hardware malfunctions and repair those malfunctions, including Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems, network infrastructure problems and repair those problems, including problems with switches, fiber optic converters, cabling, and power distribution.
- Reviews spare parts to ensure an adequate number of compatible parts are maintained.
- Develops and documents maintenance/troubleshooting procedures.
- Provides technical support to Project teams to ensure control system standards are maintained through consultation or implementation.
- Will lead software upgrades to the mill DCS systems.
- Complete Honeywell Training for Experion Servers, TDC3000 and Experion systems.
- Serve as process control advocate working with corporate and local IT groups.
- Maintains awareness of technology and future advances, evaluates potential for providing value at Texarkana, and makes recommendations for implementation when warranted.
- Active participation in the design, installation, and verification of new process control systems.
- Provides support for interfacing applications that utilize process data for process and resource optimization.
- Configure OPC servers for cross system communication.
- Perform system administrator functions on MS Windows, PI, VMS and other control operating systems, providing security protection procedures updates and backup of software and data as required.
- Administer Software and Hardware Image Backups for the Honeywell DCS and Valmet DNA systems and other pertinent databases and verify restore procedures.
- Determine and attend relevant training to advance personal knowledge in subject areas to benefit process control and optimization. Train other Process Control Engineers in proper, effective use, maintenance, and troubleshooting of systems and networks
- Provide rotating after hour and weekend support for Process Control systems. Required Experience Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or related Information Technology field with certifications in CCNA, Client Server, and other IT related fields preferred.
- Experience in a plant manufacturing environment preferred.
- Knowledge of Honeywell, Valmet or other DCS platforms preferred.
