: Nazareth Academy in Victoria, Texas is seeking a proactive and adaptable Network Administrator to manage, maintain, and support our schools IT infrastructure. In a close-knit community of students and staff, this vital member of our staff will ensure our network, devices, and classroom technology are secure, reliable, and optimized for learning. The Network Administrator will serve as our primary technology point-of-contact, balancing routine network maintenance with hands-on support.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Network & Infrastructure Administration Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot the school's Local Area Network (LAN), Wi-Fi access points, switches, routers, and firewalls. Ensure optimal bandwidth, connectivity, and performance for both administrative needs and student/classroom devices. Monitor daily network health, proactively resolving connectivity drops or system performance bottlenecks.
Data Security & System Maintenance Implement and manage network security protocols, including content filtering and access controls appropriate for our Catholic PK3-8th grade school environment. Perform scheduled data backups and establish disaster recovery plans to ensure critical student and administrative data is protected. Apply routine updates, firmware patches, and preventative maintenance to servers, printers, and network appliances.
End-User Support & Helpdesk Serve as the Tier 1/2 helpdesk support for staff and students experiencing hardware, software, or network issues. Manage user accounts, email addresses, and access permissions across the schools digital platforms. Set up and configure new workstations, interactive displays, computer labs, and 1:1 student devices. Liaise with external software/hardware vendors and Internet Service Providers (ISPs) when escalated technical issues arise.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree (or Masters degree) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in network administration or IT support. (Previous experience in the PK3-8th grade sector or school environment preferred.) Strong understanding of network protocols, IP addressing, routing, and switching. Proficiency with Windows Server, Active Directory, and popular cloud platforms. Familiarity with student information systems (i.e., FACTS-SIS) and educational technology tools Excellent management, analytic, and evaluative skills to choose best solutions and present them to the students, staff, and administrators, especially during peak seasons. Exceptional interpersonal skills; patience and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to nontechnical staff and student.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands This is a part-time position (typically fewer than 25 hours per week, with a flexible schedule).
Requires frequent standing, walking across campus, lifting/moving computer equipment (up to 40 lbs), and occasional overhead work (e.g., adjusting ceiling-mounted projectors or wireless access points). Must pass standard K-12 background checks and clearances.
