This is a hands-on position that combines Linux/Ubuntu server administration, network management, IT support, systems organization, and internal software/application management. We are looking for someone who takes initiative and doesn't simply wait for IT problems to be reported. The right person will proactively maintain our systems, keep our IT environment organized, identify potential issues, communicate clearly with employees and leadership, and follow problems through to resolution. Our company also develops and uses custom internal software applications. This position will help support and manage those systems, troubleshoot issues, coordinate with developers, test improvements, and help ensure our technology supports the needs of the business. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being both a systems administrator and technical problem-solver and wants the opportunity to take real ownership of a growing company's IT environment. Key Responsibilities Linux/Ubuntu Server & Network Administration Administer, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux/Ubuntu servers. Perform server updates, patching, configuration, preventative maintenance, and performance monitoring. Monitor server health, storage, services, logs, resource utilization, and availability. Manage server users, permissions, access controls, and authentication. Maintain and test server backups and recovery processes. Troubleshoot server, network, connectivity, and performance issues. Maintain organized documentation of servers, networks, configurations, equipment, and access procedures. Assist with server deployments, upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure improvements. IT Support & Systems Administration Take ownership of the organization, maintenance, security, and reliability of company IT systems. Maintain and troubleshoot computers, laptops, printers, tablets, peripherals, networking equipment, and other technology. Provide responsive IT support to employees. Manage user accounts, system access, permissions, credentials, and IT onboarding/offboarding. Maintain an accurate inventory of computers, equipment, software, licenses, servers, and other IT assets. Coordinate preventative maintenance, updates, equipment replacement, backups, and recurring IT needs. Prioritize urgent IT issues that prevent employees or operational teams from completing their work. Identify recurring problems and implement long-term solutions rather than repeatedly applying temporary fixes. Coordinate with outside vendors and technical providers when needed. Internal Software & Application Management Help manage and support company internal software platforms and custom applications. Become a knowledgeable internal resource for how company applications and systems operate. Assist users with application access, permissions, workflows, and troubleshooting. Maintain system documentation, user instructions, permissions, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures. Help ensure internal software continues to support the operational needs of the business. Process Improvement & Automation Develop and maintain organized IT procedures and documentation. Create structured processes for server maintenance, equipment management, user access, security, backups, software administration, and IT support. Help develop custom tools, integrations, and automation within our internal software environment. Identify opportunities to make company processes more efficient through technology.
Communication & Ownership:
Strong communication and follow-through are essential for this position. We are looking for someone who will: Take ownership of IT issues from identification through resolution. Proactively communicate system issues, risks, outages, maintenance needs, and project status. Keep employees and leadership updated without requiring repeated follow-up. Identify what needs attention and take initiative rather than waiting to be assigned every task. Qualifications Hands-on experience with Linux/Ubuntu server administration. Strong knowledge of IT support, systems administration, hardware, software, networking, and security. Comfortable working with the Linux command line and troubleshooting server-level issues. Understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless networks. Experience with server monitoring, updates, patching, backups, permissions, and troubleshooting. Experience managing user accounts, permissions, computers, software, and IT assets. Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through. Able to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities. Comfortable learning and supporting custom or unfamiliar software applications. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting IT infrastructure in a growing company. Experience with APIs, databases, software integrations, and automation. Experience supporting or testing internally developed software applications. Knowledge of cybersecurity, identity and access management, backup/recovery, and IT security best practices. Who We're Looking For This position is a strong fit for someone who is: Proactive
  • You identify problems and opportunities before someone has to ask. Dedicated
  • You take responsibility for your systems and follow issues through to completion. Focused
  • You can prioritize critical IT needs while continuing to move longer-term projects forward. Organized
  • You believe IT infrastructure, equipment, documentation, and processes should be structured and maintained. Communicative
  • You keep people informed and can explain technical issues clearly. Curious
  • You enjoy learning new technologies and figuring out how systems work. Hands-on
  • You're comfortable moving between a Linux server, network issue, employee computer, and internal application in the same day. A problem-solver
  • You don't just identify what's wrong; you work toward a practical solution.
Why Join Us? This is not a position where you will be limited to resetting passwords and responding to basic IT tickets. You will have the opportunity to take meaningful ownership of our servers, networks, IT infrastructure, internal applications, equipment, processes, and technology environment. As the company grows, you will help determine how our IT systems are organized, maintained, secured, documented, and improved. We are looking for someone who wants to build, organize, maintain, and improve an IT environment—not simply keep existing systems running.
