This role requires a highly motivated individual who can independently plan and schedule daily work, balance competing priorities, solve practical problems, coordinate across departments, and communicate effectively with management regarding workload, scheduling needs, and risks. The ideal candidate will take ownership of assigned work, continuously seek ways to improve safety, quality, and efficiency, and willingly support other operational functions as business needs require. During slower production periods, this individual will proactively assemble products for inventory, help shipping pick and prepare orders, improve work areas and processes, and address other productive shop priorities without waiting for detailed direction. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Pump Assembly & Production

• Assemble centrifugal slurry pumps, bearing assemblies, pump packages, and related equipment according to engineering drawings, bills of material, work instructions, and quality standards.
• Perform mechanical assembly of pumps, seals, drive components, guards, piping, and ancillary equipment as applicable.
• Conduct in-process inspections, functional checks, and basic testing of assembled equipment.
• Build pump assemblies and related products for inventory when customer-order demand is lower.
• Maintain accurate assembly records and promptly identify missing parts, fit-up concerns, drawing discrepancies, or other issues that could affect safety, quality, or delivery.
• Support production schedules and help ensure customer delivery commitments are met. Work Planning, Scheduling & Communication
• Independently plan, schedule, and manage daily work based on production requirements, shipping commitments, inventory needs, field-service responsibilities, and customer priorities.
• Evaluate competing demands and use sound judgment to sequence work efficiently.
• Proactively escalate competing priorities, workload constraints, resource needs, schedule risks, quality concerns, or unclear direction to management before they affect commitments.
• Provide timely status updates on active builds, shipment readiness, field assignments, quality matters, and expected completion dates.
• Coordinate with Operations, Engineering, Purchasing, Sales, and Shipping to resolve issues and maintain an efficient flow of work.
• Identify bottlenecks and recommend practical solutions that improve throughput, productivity, organization, and reliability. Shipping, Packaging & Logistics Support
• Properly crate, palletize, band, block, brace, wrap, label, and prepare pumps, pump packages, parts, and equipment for safe shipment.
• Verify orders and shipments for accuracy, completeness, condition, and appropriate documentation before release.
• Assist with picking, packing, staging, loading, and unloading incoming and outgoing orders and freight.
• Support shipping activities during high-volume periods or when assembly work is limited.
• Maintain safe, clean, organized, and efficient production and shipping areas. Quality Assurance & Quality Control
• Assist with inspection of incoming components and materials for conformance to drawings, purchase requirements, and established quality standards.
• Perform and document quality checks on outgoing parts, assembled pumps, and pump packages before shipment.
• Use appropriate measuring and inspection equipment and maintain traceable inspection records as required.
• Identify, segregate, and document nonconforming materials or workmanship and help investigate root causes and corrective actions.
• Work with Purchasing, Engineering, and Operations to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence.
• Support continuous improvement of quality procedures, inspection methods, and shop standards. Technical Documentation & Continuous Improvement
• Review assembly procedures, work instructions, service manuals, and other technical documentation from a hands-on assembly perspective.
• Provide practical input to improve the accuracy, clarity, sequence, illustrations, safety notes, tooling requirements, and usability of pump assembly and service manuals.
• Document recommended changes and communicate recurring assembly questions or inconsistencies to management and Engineering.
• Identify and help implement opportunities to improve safety, workflow, tooling, quality, standardization, material handling, and overall efficiency.
• Participate in the development of standard work, checklists, fixtures, and shop best practices. Field Service & Customer Support
• Occasionally travel to customer, distributor, or job sites to provide technical support, equipment inspections, installation or startup assistance, troubleshooting, and training.
• Communicate technical information clearly and professionally to customers, distributors, contractors, and internal personnel.
• Document site observations, work completed, open issues, and required follow-up.
• Represent Atlas Equipment Company professionally and maintain a strong focus on safety and customer service while in the field. Fabrication & General Shop Support
• Occasionally fabricate, fit, and assemble pump bases, skids, guards, brackets, and related support structures.
• Operate common hand tools, power tools, material-handling equipment, and fabrication equipment safely and correctly.
• Perform basic shop upkeep, tool care, material organization, and work-area improvements.
• Cross-train and assist other operational functions as business needs require. Qualifications Required
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and experience working with industrial equipment, machinery, pumps, rotating equipment, mechanical systems, or a comparable environment.
• Ability to read and follow engineering drawings, bills of material, specifications, assembly instructions, and inspection requirements.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and shop equipment safely and effectively.
• Strong troubleshooting, critical-thinking, and practical problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to plan and schedule work, manage multiple priorities, and communicate conflicts or risks appropriately.
• Self-driven, dependable, and able to work independently with limited supervision while remaining accountable to team priorities.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to workmanship, safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel occasionally. Preferred
• Experience assembling pumps, valves, industrial equipment, rotating machinery, or mechanical systems.
• Welding, fitting, or light fabrication experience.
• Experience with QA/QC inspection, nonconformance documentation, or manufacturing quality procedures.
• Field service, industrial maintenance, startup, commissioning, or customer training experience.
• Forklift and overhead lifting equipment experience or certification.

• Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, and work in a shop or manufacturing environment for extended periods.

• Ability to safely use forklifts, hoists, cranes, and other material-handling equipment when trained and authorized.
• Ability to use required personal protective equipment and work around industrial machinery, noise, dust, oils, and other typical shop conditions.
