JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Director of Business Operations, the Technology Support Specialist is responsible for providing technical support for instructional and administrative technology at Irvine International Academy (IIA). This includes troubleshooting hardware and software issues, maintaining network systems, and assisting staff and students in a dual-language learning environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide technical support for users of the school's computer systems.
  • Deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain computer hardware, software, mobile devices, printers, accessories, and peripherals while ensuring proper network connectivity.
  • Manage and maintain various computer software systems and applications, including curriculum and student information software.
  • Perform a variety of duties in the setup, repair, and maintenance of computers, laptops, tablets, accessories, and peripherals, including installation and configuration of operating systems and software, basic hardware repairs and upgrades, preventative maintenance, and installation of updates.
  • Install and set up technology in classrooms, offices, labs, and carts in an organized manner to ensure the safety of staff and students.
  • Prioritize, respond to, and resolve help desk issues.
  • Maintain and track inventory of hardware and software according to established procedures.
  • Maintain strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in various areas of hardware, software, and networking.
  • Maintain current knowledge of operating systems and software; ensure an understanding of network protocols used within the school.
  • Ensure optimum system performance by planning for replacements or upgrades of equipment, determining specifications and requirements, and recommending school standards for hardware and software purchases.
  • Research and obtain price quotes from vendors as assigned.
  • Troubleshoot network issues and assist with administering local area networks.
  • Install, maintain, and document hardware, software, and operating systems.
  • Assist with user account issues, including passwords, permissions, and file access.
  • Apply security policies to secure computers and the network from viruses, malware, and intrusion.
  • Assist with the installation of network equipment; maintain network connections and other cabling as needed.
  • Attend and participate in related meetings and in-service training.
  • Serve as a technical resource and provide training for school staff in the use of technology as needed.
  • Provide assistance with school technology initiatives as needed.
  • Operate a variety of office and technology support equipment, including various hand tools, a computer, and assigned software; drive a vehicle to conduct work as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Principles and practices of computer hardware, software, and networking, including troubleshooting techniques and system maintenance. Proficiency in Google Workspace for Education and familiarity with instructional technology and digital learning tools. Understanding of cybersecurity practices, data privacy policies, and best practices for maintaining secure digital environments. Awareness of technology integration in educational settings, particularly in a bilingual, dual-immersion school environment. Ability to : Diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently while minimizing disruptions to instructional time. Communicate effectively with users of varying technical abilities, providing clear guidance and support. Work collaboratively with school staff, students, and external vendors to maintain a smooth and effective technology environment. Adapt to new technologies, stay current with emerging trends, and implement best practices for educational technology. Prioritize and manage multiple tasks, ensuring timely resolution of technical concerns and requests. Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail when handling school data and network security.
Education :
Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and college level coursework in computer science or a related field. Bilingual proficiency in Mandarin and English is preferred.
Experience :
2 years of experience in the information technology field, preferably in an educational setting.
Credential/Certification:
Possession of, or be enrolled in training to obtain, a current first aid and CPR certificate.

Work Environment:
  • Work is performed in a busy office environment, with frequent interactions with staff, students, and parents.
  • Moderate to high noise levels typical of a school office, including phone calls, staff conversations, and studentinquiries.
  • May require the ability to multitask, manage competing priorities, and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Exposure to sensitive or confidential information, requiring the utmost discretion and professionalism.
  • Occasional exposure to external stakeholders or school events that may require evening or weekend hours.
Pay:
$28.88 - $32.51 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
