Job Description

RDS SOUTHWEST HOSPITALITY
IRVING, TX POS
Hardware Technician A bench role for someone who fixes things right the first time — and wants to eventually be the one deploying them. $18-$19 / hr | Full-time • On-site | Mon-Fri | Irving, TX 75038 What We Do RDS has been the technology backbone for some of the most recognized restaurant brands in the country for over a decade. When their POS terminals, tablets, printers, and payment hardware needs to go out the door field-ready, that's on us. Our warehouse team is small, fast-moving, and holds itself to a high standard because the operators relying on this equipment don't have time for half-measures. The Role You'll be the last set of hands a device sees before it ships to a restaurant. That means diagnosing hardware, making repairs, reimaging and configuring systems, running QA, and documenting everything accurately. The device inventory rotates constantly — POS terminals, touch-screen tablets, receipt printers, payment peripherals — so there's always something new on the bench. This is not a "ticket queue" job. You'll be expected to own your bench, manage your workflow, and hold the bar on quality without someone standing over your shoulder. Day-to-Day Diagnose and repair desktops, laptops, tablets, POS terminals, printers, and peripherals Component-level troubleshooting — RAM, SSD/HDD, motherboards, power supplies, internal connections Reimage devices and install Windows OS and required software configurations QA test every unit before it ships — if it's not field-ready, it doesn't leave Maintain accurate service logs and track parts in inventory systems Asset tagging, serial tracking, and documentation compliance Support inbound/outbound hardware processing and warehouse coordination Who We're Looking For You've got 1-2+ years of hands-on hardware repair behind you and you can work through a problem without needing someone to tell you the next step. You understand PC architecture, Windows environments, and how to use diagnostic tools. You pay attention to the details that matter — a device that passes QA because someone rushed it will end up costing someone a dinner service. If you've touched POS systems before (Brink, Toast, Aloha, Revel — anything), that's a meaningful advantage. CompTIA A+ or similar cert is a plus. Soldering or board-level repair experience is a bonus, not a requirement. The candidates who thrive here are the ones who find it personally satisfying to hand off something that works perfectly. If "good enough" is your standard, this probably isn't the right fit. Basic Requirements High school diploma or equivalent 1-2+ years hands-on hardware repair experience Solid understanding of PC hardware and Windows operating systems Experience with structured troubleshooting and diagnostic tools Able to lift up to 50 lbs and be on your feet for extended periods Must be on-site in Irving, TX — reliable commute or relocation required before start Where This Can Go The bench is where you learn the products. Field technicians at RDS are the people who've already proven they can work independently and deliver quality. If getting out of the warehouse and into the field — installing systems at restaurant openings, managing hardware rollouts across multiple locations — sounds like where you want to be, this role is the direct path to get there. What You Get $18-$19 / hr — Competitive for the role Health, dental & life — Insurance coverage 401(k) with match — Company contributes Paid time off — Plus major holidays On-the-job training — Grow from day one Advancement path — Field tech opportunities We're a small team and we're selective about who joins it. If you take your craft seriously, work without needing to be managed, and want to build toward a career in hospitality technology — we'd like to hear from you.
