The Cable Technician 2 is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the University structured cable plant. Performs patching, installation, testing, cable management, and documentation. When needed, works with the fiber team. Maintains a tidy work environment. Provides hands-on help and support to university and vendor cable technicians. Coordinates with customers to identify work scope, materials, and arrange access. Responsible for updates to the work ticketing systems and labor tracking tools. Provides verbal and written status reports to the copper supervisor and cable plant management. Responds to resolve incidents and covers for the copper supervisor as needed.
