Aptask Global Workforce (AGW) is seeking a Software Engineer for a contract position with a Leading Technology Firm located in Burlingame, CA. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity. We are looking for a Senior Mobile Systems Engineer with extensive client-server experience to design and implement software systems spanning wearable devices, mobile applications (iOS/Android), and distributed backend services. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of concurrency, performance optimization, and system reliability.

Responsibilities:

Design and implement software systems spanning wearable devices, iOS/Android mobile applications, and distributed backend services Utilize proficiency in Kotlin or Swift and asynchronous programming Manage memory, resource ownership, race conditions, and deadlock preventions Debug race conditions, thread-safety issues, and complex concurrency issues Optimize CPU, memory, latency, and system reliability

Requirements:

10+ years of relevant experience Experience building mobile products in Kotlin/Swift with distributed backends Experience in multithreaded, event-driven systems Strong background in system engineering, including architecture design, performance optimization, and system reliability improvements Excellent verbal and written communication skills Desired skills: Experience building wearable products (glasses, watches, MR headsets, etc) Proficient system programming in either C++ or Rust AI/ML Engineering experience, including LLM prompt tuning, evaluation, tool calling, and agent workflows Pay range: up to $94.69 per hour Only candidates available and ready to work directly as Aptask Global Workforce (AGW) employees will be considered for this position.
