12+ Months Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Systems Programmer/DBA to lead and support complex database upgrade projects, system software installations, configurations, testing, implementation, maintenance, and enhancements for legacy enterprise systems. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in mainframe database administration and systems programming, with strong experience managing hierarchical, relational, and file-based database environments. Key Responsibilities Plan, install, configure, test, implement, and maintain core mainframe database products and system software. Manage and upgrade database environments including IMS, DB2, and ADABAS. Monitor database health, performance, capacity, and space utilization. Perform database administration and provide technical consulting to application development and operations teams. Design logical and physical databases, including database creation and optimization. Develop and execute backup, recovery, replication, compression, partitioning, and reorganization strategies. Conduct technical reviews and performance evaluations of existing database systems. Recommend and implement improvements to database architecture and DBMS software. Support production systems and troubleshoot complex system/database issues. Lead database-related initiatives and mentor junior team members.
