As an Engineer of Embedded software you will design, develop, operate and maintain software and firmware components and computing systems software to be applied to and integrated with engineering, scientific and manufacturing requirements. Apply the appropriate standards, processes, procedures and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of such engineering applications and products such as laboratory simulation systems, aircraft flight control and display systems, pacemakers, defibrillators, mechanical and electrical systems. Interfaces with customers, suppliers, application users and other technical and support personnel.

Basic Qualifications for

Principal Engineer Embedded Software:

Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Masters Degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related experience, or PhD in a STEM discipline with 1 year of experience Must be a US Citizen in order to meet the security clearance requirement Secret clearance with ability to obtain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company to meet its business need

Experience with software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debug, and maintenance Experience leading Software Engineering teams with the ability to team plan, execute, and manage the technical scope, and support leadership planning

Experience with software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debug, and maintenance Experience leading Software Engineering teams with the ability to team plan, execute, and manage the technical scope, and support leadership planning

Experience with Agile, Git, GitLab, or Bitbucket and working in cross-functional Scrum team Experience in software development using languages such as C/C++, Python, Java, Docker

Experience with software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debug, and maintenance Experience leading Software Engineering teams with the ability to team plan, execute, and manage the technical scope, and support leadership planning

Primary Level Salary Range:

$114,000.00 - $177,800.00

Secondary Level Salary Range:

$0.00 - $0.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current market conditions.



Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
