POSITION OVERVIEW
Position title: Computational Media Pre-six Lecturer Salary range: A reasonable estimate for an appointment to teach a standard five-credit course is $9,986-$20,908 (based on salary points 5-30). Compensation for Summer Session courses may vary from courses taught during the academic year. Percent time: Variable, based on the course load assigned. Anticipated start: Appointments are contingent on the hiring unit's instructional need and the availability of funding. This recruitment is valid for initial appointments made in fall quarter 2026 through fall quarter 2027. Initial appointments with effective dates outside of this recruitment period will require an alternative open recruitment. Position duration: Appointments are typically made during one or more quarters of the regular academic year (fall, winter, and spring quarters), but they may also be made during Summer Session.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Department of Computational Media at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for an ongoing pool of lecturers who may be appointed to teach courses in Computational Media, Human Computer Interaction, or Games & Playable Media, and Serious Games. Course topics include, but are not limited to, all areas related to the design, development, production, narrative, graphic, audio elements, and experiential learning of computational media, including human computer interaction and games and playable media (this includes, but is not limited to: artificial intelligence for games, interactive storytelling, game studies, interactive experience design, social media, graphics, game engines, computer game design, board game design, game programming, game production, audio production for games, team-based game projects, 3D modeling, animation, character art, environment art, and writing for games). Outstanding candidates with experience to teach courses in one or more of the above areas are encouraged to apply. The campus is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the inclusive excellence of the academic community through their teaching and other assigned duties. Appointments are temporary positions with end dates and generally made one quarter at a time, based on the changing curricular needs of the department. Internal candidates will be given priority consideration.

B.S. / B.A.
/ B.F.A. and three years of industry experience relevant to the advertised course topics (pertains to both degree field and industry experience); or an
M.S. / M.A. / M.F.A.
in a field relevant to the advertised course topics; or 10 years of industry and professional experience relevant to the advertised course topics that is judged to be equivalent to a bachelor's degree. Equivalent foreign degrees will be considered.
