Job Description
Position Summary The Junior Software Engineer contributes to the development, maintenance, and improvement of Equity Smart's web applications, internal tools, websites, and technology platforms. This role focuses primarily on full-stack web development, application troubleshooting, documentation, feature support, APIs, automation tools, and cloud-based deployments. The Junior Software Engineer is expected to contribute to defined development projects, prioritize clean and well-documented code, maintain and improve production systems, translate business requirements into technical implementation, and continue growing technical skills while supporting Equity Smart's broader technology roadmap. Full-Time / In-Office Key Responsibilities Software Development & Application Support Develop, test, maintain, and improve company web applications, websites, portals, internal tools, and EquitySmart.ai. Build responsive user interfaces using JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React, and related web development tools and frameworks. Develop and implement new features, bug fixes, enhancements, and performance improvements. Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code that follows company standards. Contribute to front-end and back-end development, including APIs, data handling, and application logic. Create, maintain, and troubleshoot database-backed workflows, including data handling, schema updates, validation, and integrations with application features. Create, maintain, and troubleshoot RESTful APIs. Support integrations with third-party tools, APIs, Retool applications, chatbot tools, and other internal systems. Follow web security best practices and assist with authentication and authorization processes. Troubleshoot application issues, identify bugs, and escalate security, infrastructure, or architecture concerns as needed. Support AWS deployments, CI/CD workflows, environment setup, and deployment troubleshooting under supervision. Follow established change management and deployment procedures. Maintain technical documentation, including development notes, diagrams, README files, support guides, and deployment steps. Document features, changes, workflows, and technical decisions. Collaborate with IT, Marketing, Operations, and other stakeholders on approved development projects. Communicate progress, blockers, and risks clearly and professionally. Continue learning relevant development tools, frameworks, and best practices. Other duties, as assigned. Qualifications Foundational experience with software development, web development, or computer science concepts. Working knowledge of React, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and modern web development practices. Familiarity with APIs, RESTful services, and third-party integrations. Exposure to AWS or cloud-based application hosting preferred. Familiarity with Git, version control, documentation, and basic development workflows. Ability to troubleshoot application issues and learn new technologies quickly. Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow technical direction. Clear written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical team members.
