Job Title:
Embedded Software Engineer II Job Description This role focuses on model-based embedded software development using MATLAB and Simulink to restructure, modularize, and standardize existing software models. You will help break down a large, complex model into smaller, maintainable components, update unit tests and simulations, and support integration into an AUTOSAR-based environment for a high-integrity system. You will work in an agile team that values long-term collaboration and continuous improvement. Responsibilities Develop and maintain model-based embedded software using MATLAB and Simulink. Break down a large, complex software model into smaller, modular components with a clear and maintainable structure. Redesign and standardize input/output interfaces and wrap components in an AUTOSAR-compliant structure where applicable. Define strategies for how to partition and restructure models to improve testability, reusability, and performance. Design, implement, and execute Model-in-the-Loop (MiL) tests to validate model behavior and functionality. Update and maintain unit tests and simulation environments to reflect changes in the model architecture. Work with MIL testing, simulations, and dSPACE or similar hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) environments, including modifying and configuring test setups as needed. Participate in embedded software development activities, including integration with embedded C code and controls logic. Collaborate with cross-functional team members in an agile environment to refine requirements, plan work, and deliver high-quality software increments. Document model structures, interfaces, test approaches, and design decisions clearly and consistently. Essential Skills Proven experience with MATLAB and Simulink for model-based software development. Hands-on experience with embedded software development projects using MATLAB and Simulink. Understanding of Model-in-the-Loop (MiL) testing concepts and ability to apply them in practice. Knowledge of embedded controls development and how control algorithms are implemented in embedded systems. Familiarity with embedded C and its role in embedded software and controls implementations. Ability to design and execute simulations to validate model behavior and software functionality. Bachelor's degree (BS) in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with AUTOSAR or model-based AUTOSAR development is a strong plus. Familiarity with dSPACE or similar HIL platforms for testing and simulation. Experience restructuring large models into smaller, standardized components, including I/O standardization and interface definition. Background in embedded controls development for complex systems. Experience working on long-term embedded software projects with iterative improvements. Comfort working with teams that include a mix of experience levels. Ability to work effectively in an agile development environment, including participation in sprint planning and reviews. Work Environment You will work in an agile development environment that emphasizes collaboration, iterative delivery, and continuous improvement. The team focuses on long-term embedded software projects, offering opportunities to work on complex, high-impact systems over extended periods. Day-to-day work centers on MATLAB and Simulink for model-based development, along with simulation, MiL testing, and interaction with HIL tools such as dSPACE or similar platforms. The environment supports structured software engineering practices, including modular design, standardized interfaces, and comprehensive testing. The role is designed for professionals who enjoy technically challenging work, model-based development, and contributing to a stable, long-term opportunity.
