Apex Systems is hiring a DevOps/Infrastructure Engineer to support a large‑scale modernization initiative for an enterprise technology client. This team is focused on backend optimization, AI‑driven infrastructure improvements, and stabilizing on‑prem Kubernetes environments. The project involves working in a small, highly technical unit alongside senior engineers to test AI‑generated improvement recommendations, enhance system reliability, and resolve complex networking issues within a service mesh environment. Qualified candidates will have the following experience and skills: Expertise using GitHub Copilot for development and troubleshooting 5-7+ years of experience with .NET C# microservices and React Strong hands‑on experience with Kubernetes (on ‑ prem) , including Istio, Flannel, kube‑proxy, CoreDNS, and distributed networking Deep troubleshooting experience with service mesh , sidecar injection , mTLS , Envoy , VXLAN , iptables/IPVS , and NodeLocal DNSCache Proficiency with Kafka, PostgreSQL, Redis, Apache Druid, and ELK Strong networking and packet‑level debugging using tcpdump, Wireshark, Jaeger , and distributed tracing tools Experience building or integrating Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers for infrastructure operations, metrics retrieval, log querying, and AI‑powered diagnostics Experience connecting LLMs/AI tools (e.g., Claude) to infrastructure for automated troubleshooting, anomaly detection, and incident orchestration

$50-60/hr
