Job Title:
Applications Engineer for
Manual, NC, & CNC Grinders Travel Required:
Yes (Domestic and International) Position Summary This position specializes in working with Manual, NC, & CNC Centerless, OD, ID, and Vertical grinders. The Applications Engineer is responsible for all engineering related activities including but not limited to the responsibilities listed below. This role demands technical excellence, customer-facing professionalism, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure customer satisfaction and project success.
Key Responsibilities Quoting Phase:
  • Review customer machine requirements and any provided part and process information and offer suggested machine model(s) and options.
  • Provide estimated cycle times if requested by the customer.
  • Work with the customer as needed to help with achieving a successful outcome.
  • Work with the builder and any associated vendor to provide the best cost-effective solution to meet the customer's needs. Project Management
  • Collaborate with sales, vendors, and customers to define project requirements and deliverables and ensure these requirements are being met.
  • Ensure projects stay on schedule, implementing corrective actions as necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Maintain clear documentation and communication throughout the project lifecycle. Customer Training and Technical Support
  • Provide remote and on-site training to customers on conversational software and automation controls.
  • Become an expert in machine control systems and assist customers in optimizing usage. Process Development
  • Select appropriate abrasives, dressing tools, coolants, and auxiliary equipment according to project scope.
  • Provide insight and improvements to grinding processes, ensuring optimized production output. Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution
  • Identify process and mechanical-related issues with machines and resolve them through systematic diagnostics with the help of service as needed.
  • Recommend and implement improvements for continuous enhancement of machine performance. Customer Run-Off and Part Validation
  • Participate in machine runoff and part validation at our offices, customer locations, or the manufacturer facility.
  • Ensure all parts meet customer requirements and machine specifications before final delivery. Preferred but not required Qualifications
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in manufacturing, mechanical, or electrical engineering or equivalent technical experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control systems.
  • Experience with ladder logic and parameter setup.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and hydraulic schematics.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Previous customer-facing applications engineering experience.
