Mid-Career Embedded Software Engineer, Carlisle, MA Assurance Technology Corporation (ATC) 135,000 - 210, 000 United States, Massachusetts, Carlisle 84 South Street (Show on map) Jul 22, 2026 ATC is seeking a talented and motivated Embedded Software Engineer to join our Advanced Solutions Group. This team develops innovative sensing, signal processing, and embedded computing systems for space, airborne and terrestrial applications. In this role you will contribute to the design, development, integration and deployment of advanced, real-time embedded systems while helping guide technical direction across programs. You will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and have opportunities to mentor junior engineers, influence system architectures, and take ownership of critical software components throughout the product lifecycle. What You'll Do As part of a collaborative engineering organization, you will: Design, develop, integrate, and test embedded software in C/C++ for embedded processors and advanced System-on-Chip (SoC) platforms Lead the development of software solutions for mission-critical sensing, processing, and control systems Collaborate with Systems, Electrical, RF, DSP and Firmware engineers to develop integrated system solutions Support architecture definition, software design reviews and technical trade studies Perform and oversee software integration, debugging, optimization, and verification activities Contribute to system-level performance analysis, resource allocation, timing analysis, and reliability assessment Support products through development, qualification, production, deployment, and operational support Mentor and provide technical guidance to early-career engineers Participate in proposal development, technology road mapping, and new-product initiatives as opportunities arise Required Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field 5-10+ years of experience developing embedded software systems Strong proficiency in C/C++ software development Experience developing software for embedded processors, microcontrollers, or SoC-based systems Experience with Linux-based development environments and GNU toolchains Familiarity with software integration, debugging, and verification methodologies Hands-on experience with automated version control, CI pipelines, and bug tracking systems to support reliable software development, release and maintenance processes Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary engineering teams Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills Preferred Qualifications Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable: Software architecture and system design Embedded Linux development ARM-based processors and SoC architectures Real-time operating systems (RTOS) Device drivers and low-level hardware interfaces Signal processing or sensor systems Model-based development and automated test frameworks Debugging tools such as GDB, JTAG, oscilloscopes and logic analyzers Aerospace, defense, space, or high-reliability systems development Working knowledge of CMMI or equivalent process maturity frameworks in support of disciplined software development and delivery Technical leadership or team mentoring experience Leadership & Growth Opportunities This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy remaining hands-on while expanding their technical leadership responsibilities.
