Job Description
A leading medical technology company is looking for a DevOps / Embedded Software Engineer for a contract opportunity in Danvers, MA. This position is 3 days onsite per week and will support the development, automation, and deployment of software used in advanced medical devices. The engineer will work across CI/CD, DevOps infrastructure, embedded software, and development automation, with a technical environment including GitLab, Jenkins, C, Python, Bash, Linux/QNX, Jira, and JAMA. This role is well suited for an engineer who enjoys working across software development and DevOps and can help improve the way embedded software is built, tested, and deployed. The ideal candidate will be comfortable troubleshooting complex technical issues, improving engineering processes, and partnering with embedded and software teams. Required Skills & Experience B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience Proven experience building, maintaining, and improving CI/CD pipelines Hands-on experience with GitLab and Jenkins Strong programming and scripting skills using C, Python, and Bash Experience working in Linux, QNX, Unix, or similar environments Experience with DevOps tools supporting automation, infrastructure, monitoring, compliance, and security Ability to design reliable and scalable software build and deployment processes Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and root cause analysis skills Demonstrated ability to identify engineering process issues and implement improvements Desired Skills & Experience Experience developing software for medical devices or other regulated products Embedded software development experience Familiarity with Jira and JAMA Experience migrating, maintaining, or improving DevOps platforms and workflows Knowledge of software security, compliance, and automated scanning processes Experience working within regulated engineering or product development environments Experience providing technical guidance or mentorship to other engineers Ability to work across multiple programming languages, tools, and development frameworks Strong communication skills and experience working with cross-functional engineering teams What You Will Be Doing Tech Breakdown 30% CI/CD Development, GitLab & Jenkins 25% Embedded Software, C, Python & Bash 20% Linux/QNX, Infrastructure & Build Environments 15% DevOps Automation, Security & Compliance 10% Jira, JAMA & Engineering Tooling Daily Responsibilities 40% Software Engineering, Automation & Hands-On Development 20% Debugging, Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis 20% Cross-Functional Engineering Collaboration 10% Architecture, Process Optimization & Technical Planning 10% Technical Guidance, Documentation & Stakeholder Communication
