Job Description:

About the role OPT Industries builds a proprietary additive manufacturing platform producing micron-resolution polymer structures. We're looking for a senior material scientist to lead the development of high-performance photopolymer materials, someone who can independently run a program from formulation strategy through customer qualification, and who is hands-on at the bench daily. What you'll do Lead formulation development of photopolymer resin systems for demanding industrial applications, owning programs from initial strategy through customer qualification Design and execute systematic formulation studies: monomer and oligomer selection, additive and filler systems, photo-initiator packages, and iterate rapidly against performance targets Perform hands-on materials characterization across thermal, mechanical, and rheological properties; interpret results and translate them into formulation decisions Balance competing material requirements: printability, cure behavior, thermal performance, and mechanical properties, to arrive at manufacturable solutions Optimize resin systems for OPT's 3D printing processes, working closely with our print and process engineers Work directly with customer engineering teams to align on specifications, present data, and support qualification programs. What we're looking for Master or PhD in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or related field 3+ years of industry experience with photopolymer or thermoset formulation Proven ability to independently drive a materials program end to end Strong hands-on characterization skills Experience with DLP/SLA printing is a plus
