Job Description

Fisher Dynamics is the automotive industry's premier supplier of safety - critical seat structures and mechanisms. Steeped in a tradition of excellence, and rooted in automotive innovation, the Fisher story is filled with automotive manufacturing milestones. We bring design, engineering, and manufacturing vehicle seating systems to a new level with innovative thinking. We're about cutting edge ideas. We have created an environment that encourages an uninterrupted flow of revolutionary concepts and unique ideas. The SW Engineer - II ( Supply Chain & Operations ) will architect and develop the operations and supply chain backbone of Fisher Dynamics' custom ERP platform from the ground up. This position will design and build core modules including Inventory Management, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Procurement systems, while being the architect of these systems with AI-native capabilities embedded from the start — demand forecasting, supply chain optimization, predictive maintenance, inventory optimization, and intelligent procurement powered by machine learning. They will work closely with ML/AI engineers to design APIs and data structures that seamlessly integrate intelligent features, while making sure the platform is robust, scalable, secure, and positioned to support intelligent, autonomous supply chain and manufacturing operations. Candidates MUST be local to the Metro Detroit Area. Relocation is not available.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Supply Chain & Operations Module Development Design and develop Inventory Management systems including stock levels, warehouse management, and multi-location support. Build Supply Chain modules for purchase orders, supplier management, inbound logistics, and supply visibility. Implement Manufacturing modules for production scheduling, work orders, bill of materials, and production tracking. Develop Procurement systems with vendor management, purchase order workflows, and supplier analytics. AI-Native Supply Chain & Operations Intelligence Design APIs and data structures that enable seamless embedding of AI/LLM models into supply chain and manufacturing workflows. Build inference APIs for real-time demand forecasting, inventory optimization, and supply chain anomaly detection. Implement predictive maintenance APIs that integrate with manufacturing systems to predict equipment failures. Design feature export pipelines that feed ML models with supply chain, inventory, and production data. Operations Data Management & Integration Design data models for supply chain entities: suppliers, SKUs, inventory levels, production schedules, demand signals. Implement data synchronization between procurement, inventory, manufacturing, and financial systems. Build supply chain event streaming for real-time visibility and AI model inference. Optimize query performance for complex supply chain and manufacturing analytics. Backend API & Service Layer Develop RESTful and event-driven APIs that expose supply chain and operations modules to frontends, integrations, and third-party systems. Implement secure data access layers with role-based access control for different supply chain and manufacturing user types. Build event streaming for real-time supply chain data updates and ML model consumption. Ensure APIs handle complex supply chain rules, multi-warehouse operations, and production constraints. Cloud Infrastructure & Deployment Deploy supply chain and operations systems on cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) with high availability. Build CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), and infrastructure-as-code. Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and performance optimization for operations systems. Ensure compliance with manufacturing data governance and operational requirements. Collaboration with AI/ML Engineers Partner with ML/AI engineers to design APIs that connect supply chain and manufacturing AI models to ERP transactions. Ensure supply chain data pipelines support real-time model inference for forecasting and optimization. Support A/B testing and validation of AI-powered supply chain features. Translate AI model requirements into technical specifications and implementation. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field. Master's degree preferred. Experience 4-6 years of professional software engineering experience building production systems. Demonstrated experience designing and developing supply chain, manufacturing, or ERP systems required. Experience with inventory management, demand planning, or procurement systems strongly preferred. Skills Advanced proficiency in backend languages (Python, Java, C++, Go) and modern frameworks. Expert-level SQL and relational database design, optimization, and performance tuning. Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and cloud-native architecture.
