Our client is an established manufacturer in the Wixom, Michigan area and is looking for an Application Engineer to join their team. This is a direct-hire, onsite opportunity for someone who can combine technical knowledge, customer requirements, electrical understanding, and pricing/proposal experience to develop customized solutions. The Application Engineer will work closely with customers, sales, and engineering to understand complex requirements, develop technical proposals, configure equipment, perform electrical calculations, and create accurate quotations and supporting documentation. What You'll Do Review customer RFQs and determine technical requirements for standard and non-standard applications. Develop technical proposals and quotations for complex load bank applications. Work with customers and internal sales and engineering teams to clarify requirements and develop appropriate solutions.

Evaluate and determine:

Required kW, kVA, kVAR, current, and power factor Nominal and allowable operating voltages Frequency requirements, including 50 Hz, 60 Hz, and 400 Hz Number of phases and conductors Load-step resolution Continuous vs. intermittent duty requirements Test duration and load profile Acceptable load tolerance Manual, automatic, or remote operation Multiple-source or parallel load-bank requirements Instrumentation and data-logging requirements Determine the appropriate equipment configuration based on customer requirements. Identify ancillary equipment needs such as cables, transformers, trailers, and other components. Obtain third-party pricing when necessary. Develop accurate cost and schedule buildups. Prepare quotations, technical specifications, drawings, and supporting documentation. Ensure proposed solutions align with applicable electrical codes, standards, and manufacturing capabilities. Provide technical support to the Inside Sales team when needed. Help manage additional quotation workload and support the sales organization. Communicate technical information clearly to both customers and internal teams. What We're Looking For 3+ years of experience in technical product pricing, estimating, proposals, applications engineering, or a closely related field. Strong understanding of electrical voltage and power distribution through education, professional experience, or a combination of both. Ability to understand customer requirements and translate them into a technically appropriate and manufacturable solution. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with customers, sales, engineering, and manufacturing. Strong attention to detail and accuracy when developing technical proposals and pricing. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred.
